Overview

The Rhinelander Agro farm site transitioned from PFNA/Global Procurement to R&D in April 2024, bringing larger farm footprints and increased EHS risks and challenges. Additionally, as the scope of Global R&D Agro activities expands worldwide, there is a growing need for dedicated EHS leadership to manage and address these evolving Agro EHS concerns effectively. The Global Agro EHS Manager will ensure consistent and comprehensive EHS oversight, helping to mitigate risks and support the safe and sustainable growth of R&D Agro operations globally.

Responsibilities

The AgScience EHS manager is responsible for setting and implementing EHS strategies, ensuring compliance, promoting an EHS culture, and supporting EHS development and improvement across PepsiCo R&D Ag Science.

  • Setting the Environmental, Health & Safety strategy and plan for PepsiCo R&D Agro, aligned with global R&D EHS strategies and standards. This involves maintaining current EH&S standards and implementing PepsiCo Global EHS Standards across Agro sites while meeting regional targets for risk management and accident reduction.
  • Serving as the subject matter expert (SME) on safety-related matters, coaching on relevant legislation, and internal EHS systems. This role also involves leading risk assessments and the execution of risk management process.
  • Leading the EHS team, with a focus on staff and site EHS competence development.
  • Fostering an EHS culture in alignment with PepsiCo's business culture and promoting this culture across the R&D Agro community.
  • Leading the development and implementation of EHS annual operating plans and budgets.
  • Ensuring EHS compliance with regulatory agency needs and serving as the key contact person for audits, both internal and external. This role also involves conducting safety and environmental audits and inspections.
  • Representing Global R&D Agro in all EHS matters, both internally and externally.
  • Developing effective communication channels and reporting key performance indicators (KPIs) and EHS incidents to site and sector leadership and stakeholders.
  • Providing daily support and coaching to managers and standard owners in the resolution of EHS issues.
  • Owning the process of auditing, accident investigations and risk assessments, providing feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Developing and delivering EHS training to associates on safety systems and requirements, including safe working practices.
  • Establishing and maintaining networks with contacts within the R&D EHS organization and PepsiCo Global EHS teams, supporting global programs and facilitating best practices sharing across the PepsiCo R&D Global community.
  • EHS responsibility for all R&D Global Agro EHS including Rhinelander, St Paul, 22 European countries, APAC (Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Taiwan, China, Australia, New Zealand) LATAM (Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Chile), AMESA (Egypt, South Africa, India, Pakistan, Bangladesk, Kenya) and PFNA (Canada and Mexico).

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $106,400 - $178,100.
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process.
  • Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 12% of annual salary paid out annually.
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety OR 8+ years of relevant experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety, including strong experience with environmental compliance within farm, industrial and/or manufacturing environments
  • Safety Management Qualification, Certified Safety Professional (ASP/CSP) or Certified Safety Engineer preferred.
  • At least 3 years management-level experience

Key Job Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of legal requirements and best practices regarding EHS subject
  • Functional EHS Knowledge in regulatory requirements, HSE technical aspects (safety, industrial hygiene, environmental), risk management, behavior-based safety, training, auditing / program review, regulatory agency enforcement, EHS vendor / consultant management, business knowledge required
  • Experience performing environmental inspections, ensuring environmental compliance, and leading environmental compliance training along with knowledge of audit and due diligence techniques.
  • Ability to work with different people and exert good organization impact confidence
  • Strong influencing, negotiating and communication skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to represent PepsiCo internally and externally
  • Excellent Leadership Skills and good PC Operation
  • Proven track record in driving cultural change in EHS
  • Possess high personal integrity
  • Be able to work under high pressure
  • Be able to travel upto 30%
