[ABOUT THE ROLE]

This is an opportunity to join the Industrial Design team to develop an industry-leading family of fitness products and accessories. You will lead our hardware's CMF production and manufacturing, ensuring it meets our high standard of premium aesthetic, and user experience aspects. In this role, you will work closely with our passionate team of designers, product managers, engineers, marketers, outside vendors, and key business partners to develop new products and features. As a Senior Color, Material, and Finish (‘CMF”) Design Lead - at Peloton, you will be responsible for developing CMF strategies and managing projects for all products in our portfolio, from hard goods to soft goods and electronics. You will work hand in hand with the ID team, collaborate with Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sourcing to develop and manage the CMF from concept through production. Your ability to problem solve and communicate to cross-functional departments will be required to maintain our Brand DNA and ensure delivery of our products on time on target.

[YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON]

  • Manage the production and execution of Color, Material, and Finish with direction from the Industrial Design Team across all product categories.
  • Creating CMF-relevant deliverables for program achievements leading towards production.
  • Create and maintain an internal library system for organizing color, material, and texture
  • Develop a master sample chip library that is unique to Peloton
  • Analyze and approve colors, materials, and finishes at different stages of the development process.
  • Partner with Peloton's internal sourcing team and external vendors to develop standards for production.
  • Drive critical initiatives to enhance the role of CMF on product development and in the wider development process.
  • Develop a relationship with internal and external trend forecasting resources to create seasonal trend presentations for the design team, product, and creative teams to keep the teams informed of up and coming market trends
  • Understand material trends and forecast innovative materials used in various Hard and Soft Goods applications across multiple industries including fitness, cycling, and consumer electronics.
  • Become a leader with a vision for all things CMF and help to sharpen and expand the awareness and importance of CMF to our Brand.

 

[WHAT YOU BRING TO PELOTON]

  • You have a proven understanding of the Product Development Process and are able to manage complex design assemblies. Your work is detailed, and well thought out..
  • You lead sophisticated projects with direction from Industrial designers & the Design Director as well as input from cross-functional partners.
  • You have the ability to self-define relevant parameters to work within; set and prioritize deliverables with appropriate timeframes to meet program + phase objectives. You ask the right questions to help inform and define outcomes and results for yourself and other designers.
  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Textile Design, or a related field.You have experience bringing analog and digital products to market that meet rigorous CMF, Quality, and fit and finish requirements.
  • You have experience developing small and large-scale mass-produced products that use a variety of manufacturing methods including but not limited to plastic injecting modeling, soft goods, metal stamping, casting, and extrusions.
  • You have a passion for design in all its forms and compelling skills, including the ability to translate brand values into captivating narratives, products, and experiences.
  • 8+ years working in a relevant field of design
  • Must be able to read, define, and manage Color via LAB or Munsell values, Surface Roughness (Ra), Gloss (GU) and Texture, via relevant measurement devices.
  • Exceptional visual, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Keyshot. Additionally, base knowledge of Solidworks is a plus
  • You can manage your workload and operate individually.
  • Able to travel to shows and suppliers both domestically and internationally including USA, China, Taiwan, and Vietnam is a must.
