About the role
The Senior Director, Accounting & Reporting, will ensure adherence to applicable accounting rules and guidelines for US GAAP and statutory reporting. You will partner with the VP, Deputy Controller, in building the strategic goals of the team and for supporting each of the Team Members in their personal career development.
You will report to the Deputy Controller.

Pay Transparency:
The base pay for this role in the states of California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Washington is: $192,000 - $252,000 per year. The base pay for this role in all other locations is: $172,800 - $226,800 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, company equity grants and annual performance bonuses.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and lead a cohesive Accounting and Reporting Team
- Accounting
- Overseeing the team through the quarterly and year-end Close.
- Lead the collaboration with other departments to ensure compliance on all accounting matters.
- In partnership with Technical Accounting, Regulatory, and Legal Teams, staying current on new accounting rules and assessing the possible effects of any such changes.
- SEC Reporting
- Oversee the preparation and filing of our public documents including Forms 10K and 10Q, in cross collaboration with Legal, Investor Relations, and Executive Leadership.
- Partner with Technical Accounting to evaluate evolving and technical accounting guidance to ensure appropriate application of GAAP, including adoption of new standards
- Statutory Reporting
- Overseeing the preparation and filing of the Companies' statutory reports and state-level compliance reporting.
- Leading the development and evolution of financial disclosures.
- Oversee the financial reporting related correspondence with regulators.
- Accounting
- Ensure an environment with internal controls.
- Liaise with external auditors.
- Lead the leaders (Associate Directors) of each of the individual teams: Accounting, SEC Reporting Team, and Statutory Reporting Team.
- Support the leaders and their team members in professional development.
- Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 12+ years of related experience on an accounting or reporting team and/or in public accounting.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or 4 years of relevant experience.
- Certified Public Accountant licensure (CPA).
- SEC Reporting Experience.
- 2+ years of experience with US-based insurance companies.
- 2+ years of practical experience in financial reporting.

- 4+ years of practical experience in financial reporting.

Pay Transparency: Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education, and experience.
