Position in this function is responsible for working with the surgical team to insure that quality care is given to the patient. Works with team members in providing assistance to the Surgeon by being familiar with the surgical procedure, instruments, supplies and equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

\n
    \nConsistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate Optum’s commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal and external customer\nAssists in the assessment, planning and implementation of care given to the surgical patient\nDemonstrates ability to use supplies, equipment and instruments appropriately\nFollows strict principles of aseptic technique both in procedures and in processing of equipment and instrumentation\nDemonstrates competence in assisting with surgical procedures\nDemonstrates knowledge of health and safety policies and procedures, regulatory agency requirements, quality improvement process, facility and departmental policies, procedures and protocols\nDemonstrates knowledge of Universal Precautions\nParticipates in the identification and implementation of improvements in the delivery of quality care\nResponds expediently and courteously to requests for help from patients and staff\nUses judgment in seeking consultation from circulating Nurse and other unit Nursing staff\nMaintains composure and initiates emergency care as appropriate according to ACLS guidelines\nWorks with team members in the selection of supplies, instrumentation and equipment needed for patient care\nUses, protects, and discloses Optum patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards\nPerforms additional duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications:

    \n
      \nCurrent WA State Surgical Technologist Registration (ST)\nCurrent AHA/BLS Certification
      \n\n

      Preferred Qualifications:

      \n
        \nGraduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technologists\nCurrent ORT (Operating Room Technician) certification\n2+ years of experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting or a busy multi-specialty ASC
        \n\n


        Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $27.00 to $37.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
