Surgical Technologists are allied health professionals, who are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients. Surgical Technicians work under the supervision and delegatory authority of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical Technologists are experts in the theory and application of the principles of asepsis and sterile technique to combine the knowledge of human anatomy and surgical procedures to facilitate a physician’s performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Primary Responsibilities:

\n
    \nWill participate and maintain a culture within The Corvallis Clinic that is consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards document. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity, and embrace the principles contained within\nAssesses patient status during pre-op interview, and on a continuing basis\nProvides safe, therapeutic quality care to patients by utilizing the nursing process and nursing diagnosis in a timely manner and by setting appropriate priorities. Documents interventions and patient’s responses\nEnsures provision of patient care in an organized and timely manner\nUtilizes nursing care standards when planning and implementing patient care\nCommunicates appropriate information regarding patient conditions to those who require the information including, surgeons, anesthesia, management and other staff\nSafely carries out physician’s orders correctly and promptly, documenting all activities\nAssists Anesthesia staff as needed\nDisplays an understanding of each patient’s cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturity in assessments, treatment and care\nParticipates in the orientation and training of new employees\nMaintains competencies to function in RN role within specific area\nProtects sedated and anesthetized patients by identifying safety hazards such as electrical, equipment, pressure points and by minimizing exposure to maintain privacy and body temperature\nExpertise sin safety principles, asepsis, sterile technique and universal precautions\nAssesses, anticipates and implements appropriate care throughout the surgical process\nOther duties as assigned\n\n

    Required Qualifications:

    \n
      \nGraduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) \nCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to complete BLS certification within 90 days of hire\n\n

      Preferred Qualifications:

      \n
        \n1+ years of experience in a Main OR\nMultispecialty experience: Orthopedics, GYN, Urology, General Surgery, ENT, and Ophthalmology\n\n

        \n

        Knowledge and Skills:

        \n
          \nUnderstands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon\nNecessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field\nAbility to don OR attire and personal protective equipment (PPE); gathers, checks and opens supplies and equipment needed for the surgical procedure; sets up the sterile back table and Mayo stand with appropriate supplies\nMaintain skills in equipment usage and troubleshooting\nPrepares and anticipates additional instrumentation, equipment and supplies for usage during the procedure\nMaintains highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure\nKnowledge of basic clinical skills to provide patient care\nAbility to work well with providers, clinical staff and patients\nAbility to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality of work\nAdhere to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for confidentiality, Infection Control, Safety (OSHA), Attendance, Personal Electronic Equipment, Punctuality and Personal Appearance\nParticipates in Quality Improvement activities including identification of opportunities for cost reductions and efficiencies\n\n

          Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $17.74 to $31.63 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
