Materials Manager

What you will experience in this position:

  • Lead a team of Materials Team responsible for Planning and Purchasing.
  • Maintain optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliverables to meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and premium transportation charges.
  • Establish, oversee, and continuously improve process and procedures to enable proper production control planning and scheduling to meet sales forecasts and to balance the level of labor and machine requirements. Investigates and follow-up deviations to the production schedule.
  • Participate as a key team member in the weekly SIOP meetings.
  • Work cross-functionally on material expedites, lead times, product launches, demand forecasts, and other countermeasures to favorably disposition excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Schedule and lead Excess and Obsolete inventory meetings.
  • Lead and participate in LEAN/Kaizen activities to improve material flow. Use LEAN tools such as Plan For Every Part (PFEP) and Inventory Optimizer tools to implement pull-based replenishment where tools are superior given environment.
  • Create, review and release internal manufacturing orders and/or external vendor purchase orders in a timely manner; expedite, cancel, defer as needed. Ensure prompt disposition of any non-conformances to minimize impact to the schedule.
  • Notify and work with appropriate personnel when problems arise in regards to equipment, materials, inventory, documentation, invoice discrepancies, raw materials replenishment, delivery or quality performance. Increase awareness and streamline communication to operations and management on critical situations.
  • Communicate lead times and respond to inquiries on customer orders and quotes. Ensure responses are communicated promptly and expertly.
  • Superuser of Enovia for part number creation.

You have:
  • BS / BA Degree in Supply Chain, Product Supply, Manufacturing/Operations or related experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of previous experience Production Planning, Materials Management or Purchasing
  • Fluency to write and speak English
  • Previous Leadership experience
  • Proficient use with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, Windows, PowerPoint
  • Previous experience of working in SAP
  • Knowledge of MRP and material flow processes, knowledge of material planning systems and processes (MRP, Kanban)
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving
  • Demonstrates high ethical standards, effective communication, and sustains positive employee relations by inspiring trust and providing high caliber counsel
  • Knowledge of process improvement concepts and methods along with the flexibility and adaptability to accept, support, and deploy new processes in a changing business environment.
  • Skill in conflict resolution including the ability to address difference of opinions or facts and use the most appropriate method to reach an effective solution
  • Ability to build and maintain effective work relationships, both internal and external, and establish credibility with business partners
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize time/workload and delegate work in order to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to negotiate by collaborating with others to arrive at a conclusion using compromise, persuasion, rationale, and diplomacy
  • Ability to adapt rapidly to changes and function in a high stress, high pressure environment with a positive attitude.
