Principal Expert Plant Engineer

Summary

We are seeking a Principal Expert Plant Engineer to support the department Chemical & Analytical Development as part of the Global Technical R&D department of Global Drug Development.You will play a crucial role in leadership and coordination of local Plant Engineering and ensuring technical competence of the employees through development and training. You will take on-site responsibility for all technical tasks and aspects of the overall production in the pilot plants.We are looking for someone with in-depth knowledge and practical experience in mechanical engineering, project planning and all related topics to join our team. Specialist knowledge and experience in utilities (general and clean), HVAC (general and clean rooms), water treatments (purified and WFI) and building technologies is an asset.This role will work directly with the Integrated Operations team and reports to the Associate Director, Integrated Operations.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the technological readiness and state of the art maintenance capabilities in alignment with local/global strategy.
  • Ensuring adherence to (internal, regulatory and legal) QA, HSE and GPE relevant guidelines, directives and processes and compliance of equipment/plant with safety, environmental and quality standards.
  • Developing and executing of the maintenance and asset care strategy for equipment and infrastructure.
  • Responsible for business continuity in the areas of equipment, utilities, and facilities.
  • Drive introduction of new engineering related technologies in Drug Substance Supply.
  • Address new internal and external requirements. Drive the interpretation of legislation, the setting of engineering standards and the definition of new engineering procedures in line with standard processes and fit for purpose solutions. Identify training requirements, develop and execute training.
  • Investment planning/execution and financial requirements.
  • Single point of contact for building, facilities and utilities related investment projects.

Essential Requirements

  • At least a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related fields or similar qualification.
  • Extensive experience in pharmaceutical industry, planning and execution of investment projects and corresponding preparation of GxP documents.
  • Strong knowledge of cleanroom technologies and the related HVAC systems, experience with utilities and building technologies; experience with water treatment plants (purified and water for injection) and external service providers is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP and regulatory qualification requirements.
  • Excellent writing skills and excellent communication skills with command of German, written and oral. Business fluent in English.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills; proven ability as team player and ability to lead cross-functional teams and own employees.
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills.
