Job Purpose

The Novartis Executive Advisors (NEA) Lead will deliver on the Novartis vision of acquiring additional and independent insights to address key enterprise questions through building relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and individual meetings between KOLs and Executive Committee of Novartis (ECN) members, including the CEO.
The incumbent will be responsible to identify, engage, attract, and retain KOLs with the scope of convening advisory meetings on behalf of the one or more ECN member. The NEA Lead will engage with the Chief Strategy & Growth Officer, the CEO Office, ECN members, and other senior executives across Novartis to discuss topics that will benefit from engaging with external advisors, and will develop a comprehensive strategy to engage with KOLs with broad expertise (e.g., Research & Development to Commercial, Technical Development, Regulatory, Legal, etc.)

Major Accountabilities
• Develop and implement a strategy for engaging with KOLs and gathering insights on key scientific and/or business questions to support Novartis' growth and aspirations
• Identify and recruit KOLs to participate in advisory meetings with ECN members including working with procurement, contracting, legal, and ethics and compliance groups to ensure terms are in adherence to Novartis policies and local regulations
• Engage with ECN, internal senior stakeholders along the Research & Development and Commercial continuum to discuss key challenges and priorities that would benefit from engaging with an external advisor
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with KOLs, ensuring that they are engaged and informed about the Novartis' activities and strategic direction. Support the KOL for generation of key insights and preparation of pre-reads, as needed
• Plan strategic advisory meetings with key stakeholders, ensuring that all participants are fully engaged. Synthesize key insights and recommendations
• Ensure diversity of KOLs across geographic regions and genders
• Stay up to date on the latest industry trends and best practices for engaging with KOLs

Role Requirements

Essential Requirements
Education
• Advanced degree in Life Sciences field, Business, Marketing, or a related field required

Work Experience
• At minimum 5+ years of experience in a strategic advisory role, preferably in a leadership capacity. Deep understanding of the Pharma Industry. Ideal the incumbent had roles with strong ties/influence to Head of R&D or Regulatory bodies (i.e. FDA, EMA Directors) or commercial or competitive landscape
• Understanding and experience in identifying and recruiting KOLs
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and a 'leadership presence', with the ability to build strong relationships with KOLs and senior executives.
• Strong analytical strategic thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and make data-driven recommendations
• Demonstrated ability to plan and facilitate meetings with diverse groups of stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of initiative and self-motivation

Languages
• Fluency in English required. Effective and persuasive communicator with strong presentation, communication (both written and verbal), influencing, negotiation and information management skills

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $183,200 and $274,800 per year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
