Workers' Compensation Care Manager

Job Description

Serves as a liaison between internal/external stakeholders to facilitate the workers' compensation claim process throughout the continuum of care. Responsible for caseload within assigned region. Provides data and analytics to drive performance improvement. Participates in implementing loss control initiatives and education.


Job Responsibility


1.Advocates for injured team member throughout workers' compensation claim process while maintaining team member's privacy and safety.
2.Establishes and maintains relationships with treatment medical providers to advance advocacy model.
3.Attends in-person medical evaluations and appointments as needed.
4.Coordinates with internal stakeholders (i.e. workers' compensation coordinators, human resources and employee health services) throughout workers' compensation claim process to monitor employee's physical abilities and facilitate transitional duty assignments, and return to work.

5.Collaborates with external third-party claims administrators throughout workers' compensation claim process. Participates in workers' compensation claim meetings to report out on claim status, provide reserve recommendations, and facilitate claim handling.
6.Enters claim documentation including, but not limited to, case notes, file attachments, emails, and relevant return to work dates in system.
7.Gathers and analyzes related data to determine the impact of case management activities on timely injury recovery, medical treatment, return to work, claim costs, injured team members, and client satisfaction.
8.Identifies trends in the workers' compensation claim process and recommends strategies to enhance results and mitigate loss.
9.Collaborates with Workforce Safety, Employee Health Services and Site Human Resources to develop and implement loss control initiatives and provide related mitigation education.
10.Performs related duties as required. All responsibilities noted here are considered essential functions of the job under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Duties not mentioned here, but considered related are not essential functions.


Job Qualification


  • Graduate from an accredited clinical education program, required.

  • Current related Clinical License to practice in New York State, required.

  • Current NYS Driver's License, required.

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft applications, required.

  • Strong communication and customer relation management skills.

  • Strong technical experience, highly preferred.

  • Data analytics experience, highly preferred.

  • Comfortable with traveling to different sites, highly preferred.

  • Knowledgeable on medical terminology and treatment plans, highly preferred.

  • Strong Excel (pivot tables, formulas and etc) skills, highly preferred.

  • Experience with C-Suite, highly preferred.
