AVP, Internal Communications

Position Summary:


Leads team responsible for developing Internal Communications plans in support of system-wide initiatives and campaigns. Works directly with senior executives across the health system to provide communications counsel and support for key business and engagement initiatives.


Work Responsibilities:


1. Directly manages and leads a team of direct reports and freelance resources; works in close partnership with other members of the Internal Communications team and Marketing and Communications department.
2. Leads an Internal Communications group by communicating with and developing staff members, and building consensus for programs and goals that support the organization, a business, function or geographic area.

3. Develops and articulates a long-term (2+ years) strategic vision for systemwide Internal Communications.
4. Ensures the timely and effective execution of internal communications strategy, to ensure relevant and engaging delivery of information to key segments of internal Stakeholders.
5. Responsible for communications through existing channels and vehicles, including employee Intranet, mobile app, employee focused social media channels, networked digital monitors, texting platform, and internal email.
6. Directs staff in creating a cohesive look, feel and tone across all initiatives and campaigns.
7. Develops, manages and produces materials and assets while ensuring the consistency of quality design standards.
8. Leads the production of content to help drive organizational change, influence behaviors or support operational needs.
9. Provides consultative communications support to functional and business leaders who are communicating to key internal audiences, including team members, nurses, physicians, community-based physicians and leaders.
10. Uses data-driven approach to inform ongoing strategy, maximize impact of communications initiatives and inform ongoing strategies and approaches; provide ongoing reporting of metrics tied to initiatives.
11. Provides direct support to crisis and emergency communications, and the onboarding and integration of new partner hospitals and physician practices.
12. Continually reviews and updates policies, procedures and best practices; stays current with communications trends and technology advances.
13. Develops strategic policies and identifies opportunities to initiate operational change, making decisions on large-scale projects and initiatives.
14. Acts as a key advisor to senior leadership on the development of overall policy and long-term goals of management.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

  • 10-12 years of relevant experience, required, and 7+ years of leadership experience, required.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Change Management Expertise: Experience in developing and executing communication plans during periods of organizational change, including transformational business initiatives or acquisitions

  • Employee Engagement: Proven track record in developing initiatives to enhance employee engagement, morale, and retention through effective communication channels.

  • Crisis Communication Experience: Ability to develop and implement crisis communication plans to effectively manage and mitigate internal communication challenges during crises or emergencies.

  • Digital Communication Proficiency: Familiarity with various digital communication platforms and tools, including intranet systems, social media, and collaboration software, to facilitate efficient internal communication processes.

  • Stakeholder Management: Skill in building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders across different departments and levels within the organization.
