Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a highly qualified mission-oriented Staff Systems Engineer to join our program team located at an overseas site in Alice Springs, Australia.
This role requires a two (2) year commitment and the ability to successfully pass a physical and psychological exam. Ability to work odd and/or extended hours covering a 24/7 period and periodic rotating 12-hour shifts. A comprehensive overseas compensation package is offered with this position including relocation assistance.
The successful candidate will provide system operations support, system optimization and advanced concept / CONOPS development, and mission engineering support. This is a highly visible role that requires the ability to function both autonomously and collaboratively in support of on-going and future development activities of a complex end-to-end system.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Perform analyses, modeling and simulation as required, development and demonstration of new algorithms/techniques for maximizing system capabilities

Serve as a focal point and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for end-to-end system performance investigations

Collaborate with customers and other industry partners to improve overall mission performance

Develop recommendations for addressing operational shortfalls and/or recommend potential operational improvements

Provide feedback to factory engineering on operational priorities and mission shortfalls, to influence system designs

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Capability to provide technical expertise and leadership in one or more of the following areas: mission system engineering, operations engineering, communication systems or digital signal processing

Ability to perform with a high level of attention to detail and minimum supervision

Ability to interact with various levels within the engineering community including government contractors

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in (Science / Technology / Engineering / Math) (STEM) plus 12 years of related experience in engineering OR Masters of Science degree in (Science / Technology / Engineering / Math) (STEM) plus 10 years of related experience in engineering

Experience in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.

Proven leadership experience on a project and/or team.

Ability to collaborate with other SMEs and deliver technical presentations to high-level customer audiences and other stakeholders

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance, SCI Access and complete a counterintelligence polygraph examination prior to start date

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous Site or Mission 1 experience

Active SCI with recent SSBI and counter intelligence polygraph

* Background in Xmidas, Matlab, Python, Kubernetes, Docker and/or C++ programming desirable

Salary Range: $155,400.00 - $233,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
