Northrop Grumman is currently looking for an experienced Staff, Modeling and Simulation Software/Systems Engineer that will be responsible for weapon system simulations both models and as software products, integrating these simulations with other applications, and for using these simulations to verify weapon system requirements. with a strong background in both software and analysis tools. This position will be located in Northridge, CA.
The ideal candidate will have experience both developing simulations as software products and using those simulations for analysis.
The successful candidate will make significant contributions both as a technical contributor and in technical leadership to integrating our high-fidelity missile simulations into various simulation environments. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team of engineers on projects involving all aspects of modeling, simulation, and analysis. The candidate must be able to make significant contributions to the team with a short ramp-up time.
Basic Qualifications for a Staff Modeling and Simulation Software/Systems Engineer- (Level 05):

• BS degree in an engineering discipline; preferably in Aerospace, SW, or Systems engineering, or a related field with 12 years of experience or a MS with 10 years of experience.
• Must have a Secret level clearance with ability to obtain a SAP level clearance.
• Previous experience, and proficiency in developing medium to large C++ cross platform, thread safe desktop applications. The candidate should have significant experience developing on, and a deep understanding of LINUX.
• Knowledgeable in object-oriented design principles and software system design architecture.
• Enterprise Design Patterns, with an understanding of messaging and pipelines.
• Experience in distributed systems. Familiar with Distributed Simulation Systems protocols such as DIS or HLA.
• Experience developing 6DOF simulations, and using those simulations for weapon system verification, flight test support (before and after) flight software testing, and other analysis.
• Experience preparing and using a HIL for system and/or flight software verification.
• Significant experience with either Python analysis tools (Scipy, PANDAS) or Matlab.
Preferred Qualifications:

• TS SAP, SCI
• Experience using GPUs in a high performance cluster environment via CUDA or other library.
• Comfortable using GIT as a configuration management system.
• Background in statistics, including the application of statistical distributions, tests and theorems (hypothesis testing, goodness of fit, etc).
• General mathematical background in linear algebra and differential equations.
• Experience in developing algorithms. Particular experience with control theory or tracking algorithms would be a plus.
• Experience with SIMULINK
• Experience in estimating/planning budget and schedule, and in tracking to that plan. Specific experience in doing so via an agile paradigm is strongly preferred. EVMS skills are also desired.
• Experience designing, implementing, and testing a common simulation architecture used in both desktop simulation (faster than real-time) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (real-time).
• Experience with SysML, preferably with CAMEO
• *Weapons Modeling and Simulation experience is a plus.
• GNC algorithms and/or models
• Sensor models
• Flight dynamics
• Experience with other DoD simulation frameworks such as AFSIM and plugin development
• AJEM or other lethality modeling tools

Salary Range: $171,000.00 - $256,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
