We are looking for you to join our team as a High-Performance Computing Staff (HPC) Storage Engineer based out of Annapolis Junction or Linthicum, MD. As a HPC Storage Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation.
The Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA) Business Area's (BA) Research Computing (RC) organization seeks HPC professionals to support its growing teams of scientists and engineers. The MDA RC organization is responsible for the design, development, deployment, security, operation, monitoring, management, and support of all computational hardware and software used for basic research, modeling and simulation, circuit design, and circuit testing. RC oversees multiple highly complex large compute clusters that are required in the daily work of users of diverse backgrounds, roles, and responsibilities. RC is searching for HPC operations, administration, and applications experts excited to learn new technologies and contribute to a highly dynamic organization.
Position can be worked out of the Annapolis Junction or Linthicum, MD sites.
Responsibilities
Monitor and maintain data storage systems within a high-performance compute cluster.
Contribute to design of new high-performance compute clusters.
Diagnose and resolve acute storage faults.
Assess and report on storage-induced operational risks and propose mitigation strategies.
Configure storage systems to meet system requirements.
Interface with user support staff to assess operational reality and react to needs as they arise.
Manage storage hardware.
Basic qualifications: Staff HPC Storage Engineer
Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years' relevant experience; 10 years' experience with a Master's degree in a STEM discipline; 8 years with PhD in a STEM discipline.
Strong Linux (Red Hat) proficiency
Strong knowledge and experience with concepts of data storage technologies for high-performance computing applications
Strong knowledge and experience with monitoring and maintaining high-performance data storage hardware
Experience directing technical work of a small team of Linux Systems Administrators
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Candidate Must be a U.S. Citizen
Clearance: Candidate must currently have and be able to maintain an Active DoD TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph
Preferred qualifications:
IAT Level II certification
Experience with network file systems
Experience with parallel file systems

Salary Range: $163,200.00 - $256,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
