Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an experienced Electrical Component Engineer to support the Armament Systems Business Unit for our Weapons Systems Division located in Plymouth, MN.
Armament Systems specializes in the development and production of medium and large-caliber ammunition as well as precision capabilities for direct and indirect fire systems. Leading the industry, this team successfully completes lifecycle support for medium caliber cannons, develops miniature, precision strike weapons for airborne platforms, creates survivability solutions for soldiers and the next generation tactical ammunition for a variety of combat platforms.
Job responsibilities:
With your experience as an Electronic Component Engineer, you will:
Work with a world-class electrical engineering team supporting the design of a variety of PCBs, providing technical and sourcing support.
Work with component suppliers to source parts, find alternate parts, and build/support the eCAD Library efforts to ensure the design tools is solid and true.
Participate in the development of the parts management plan, the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of electrical parts based on program requirements.
Communicate clearly & effectively with management, suppliers & internal/external customers.
Develop component qualification and upscreening requirements (including COTS components)
Monitor, identify, and resolve component lifecycle issues. Conducts BOM analysis and report containing recommendations and alerts for: Obsolescence, Alternate, Preferred suppliers, Alert of single source parts, 'do not use' suppliers.
Review & disposition component test data & destructive physical analysis results.
Support component level failure analyses and supplier corrective action activities.
Maintain an in-depth understanding of manufacturer's technologies and process capabilities for various part types.
Support project design reviews internally and with customers.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of science degree plus 12 years of experience in Electrical Component Engineering; or Master's degree plus 10 years of experience; or PhD plus 8 years of experience.
U.S. Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Electrical and Electronic Parts testing (e.g., screening, qualification, DPA, re-life, etc.), failure analysis, and non-conformance resolution
General knowledge of Military Performance Specifications and/or component level requirements (e.g., MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-750, MIL-PRF-123, MIL-PRF-19500, MIL-PRF-38534, MIL-PRF-55342, MIL-PRF-55365, EEE-INST-002, PEM-INST-001, etc.)
Experience with the design, materials, construction, and testing of PWB's to defense and aerospace standards
Ability to handle shifting priorities, timeline pressure and multiple projects to meet schedule.

Primary Level Salary Range: $163,200.00 - $234,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
