Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division, has an opening for a Staff Contamination Control Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.
As a Staff Contamination Control Engineer, you will be expected to lead the overall Contamination Control approach on programs building space flight products in various stages of development.

Define and implement program Contamination Controls that meet program on-orbit performance requirements by deriving cleanliness requirements for on-orbit operation, manufacturing, integration, and test

Support Systems Engineering in the development, flow down, and verification of cleanliness requirements

Support Design Engineering and Materials and Process Engineering with the design and material selection of flight and non-flight hardware; reviewing drawings for material applicability, outgassing, coatings, etc.

Interface with interdisciplinary teams consisting of Responsible Design Engineers, Material and Process Engineers, Systems Engineers, Quality/Mission Assurance, Program Management, and program customers to execute the program Contamination Control approach

Work with facilities engineers to design, build, and repair cleanroom facilities

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline (Chemical/Systems Engineering preferred) with a minimum of 14 years prior relevant experience in the space industry

Have an understanding of Contamination Control requirements and implementation approaches for space flight hardware development

Ability to work in a cleanroom environment, including wearing full body cleanroom garments

Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, with potential weekend coverage

Have an understanding of industry contamination control standards: IEST-STD-CC1246, ISO 14644, FED-STD-209, and ASTM standards

Have an understanding of thermal vacuum chambers and vacuum bakeout procedures, including the use of QCM instruments

Ability to obtain both DoD Top Secret clearance and SCI Access

Preferred Skills:

Experience generating and applying molecular outgassing models

Experience working directly with contamination critical hardware such as optical assemblies

Salary Range: $155,500.00 - $233,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
