This role, based in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL, is crucial in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.
This position does not offer relocation assistance and requires working on-site with no remote options.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital part of the Missile Defense System. It provides a key operational platform that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively manage networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, providing an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It functions as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to improve overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a critical component of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities.
In this role, the selected candidate will play a key part in developing, prototyping, implementing, and analyzing algorithms that support tracking, sensor netting, target discrimination, and battle management. Responsibilities include designing and refining algorithms for early intercept tracking and advanced battle management, as well as modifying existing algorithms to incorporate new data sources and mission needs. They will perform comparative data analysis to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of the algorithms, review technical documentation to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with project goals, and act as a technical liaison to working-level counterparts, providing subject-matter expertise as needed.

Essential Functions:
Must have experience with tracking, sensor fusion, and/or battle management systems
Comfortable working with complex datasets and performance metrics
Communicates clearly and simplifies technical information for diverse audiences
Succeed in a collaborative, fast-paced setting
Are detail-oriented and motivated by a sense of purpose
Experience in software and systems engineering, including developing new radar signal processing and tracking systems, and integrating existing ones
Experience in one or more of the following:
Kalman filtering
Track filtering
Missile fly-out
Intercept tracking
Engagement dynamics
Sensor netting
Target discrimination
Track fusion
Data links
Proficient in software development and analysis
Salary range in Huntsville: $179,600 - $269,400
Salary range in Colorado Springs: $171,000 - $256,600
Basic Qualifications:
Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.
A Bachelor's Degree in STEM Science, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Technical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 14 years of experience; or a Master's degree in a STEM related field with 12 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD (preferred) in a related field with 10 years of relevant work experience
Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the expectation of being cleared for SCI and SAP
Must be a strong analytical thinker and problem solver with a solid foundation in:
Algorithm development
Systems engineering
Data analysis, ideally in a defense or high-tech environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Systems Engineering
Graduate Certificate: Model-Based Systems Engineering (Ex, Stevens, Caltech, UCSD, USC, GWU, INCOSE cohort, etc.)
Certification: INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification
Certification: Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Intermediate (OCSMP - MBI)
Experience with missile defense systems is highly preferred
Knowledge of Java and/or C++ is a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly and effectively present technical approaches and findings

Primary Level Salary Range: $171,000.00 - $269,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
