Successful candidates for this position will work in a technical role for space and ground programs in Dulles, VA within the Tactical Space Systems Division. This position offers the opportunity to work on exciting, cutting-edge programs and new mission areas in the following areas to support next generation space capabilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:

The candidate will work with cross-discipline team members and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the program team.

Support program technical execution in accordance with Northrop Grumman Systems Engineering processes and best practices

Perform technical planning and analyses at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal

Play a key role in major program milestone and readiness reviews

Author and provide input to program data products and other vital deliverables

Support critical test campaigns designed to exercise spacecraft functionality, measure performance, and verify survivability in the extreme launch and space environments (Dynamics, TVAC, and EMI/EMC)

May be asked to support Launch campaigns and On-orbit mission operations

Lead by example and be willing to mentor, coach, train, guide, direct and advise teammates

This position requires being onsite and does not support remote work.

Basic Qualifications:

Must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance at time of application

B.S. in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math Physics, or related STEM Degree with 8 years of experience in a related engineering field such as mechanical, electrical, aerospace and/or operations or a Master's degree and 6 years of applicable experience

Experience in systems engineering to include architectural studies, technical baseline definition, requirements & interface management, hardware/software integration, and test planning & execution

Understanding of spacecraft detailed design, integration & test

Understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines

Preferred Experience:

Experience in system architecture & CONOPs development

Experience with Integration & Test of spacecraft systems

Experience with various technical tools such as MATLAB, STK, CORE, DOORS, or CAMEO

Experience and/or training in Earned Value Management Systems

Possess strong leadership qualities as well as strong and written communication skills

Experience in any of the following areas is also desired: orbital mechanics, orbital debris modeling, spacecraft attitude control, power systems and modeling, avionics or digital electronics design, risk analysis, optics, communications, rocket propulsion, thermal engineering, or spacecraft integration and testing

Experience working on spacecraft or aircraft systems

Experience with Mission Operations for spacecraft

Knowledge of Launch Vehicles, System Safety, System Reliability, Contamination Control, EMI, Space Environments (Radiation, Surface Charging, etc.), and Human Factors is also desired

* Experience and/or training in Earned Value Management Systems

Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
