Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division is seeking an Sr. Principal Operations Engineer - Trainer to become a member of the Operations Engineering Department, working as part of an integrated and globally disperse team. The position requires a flexible work schedule driven by system and operational requirements and is located at a field site in Alice Springs, Australia.
This role requires a two (2) year commitment and the ability to successfully pass a physical and psychological exam. Ability to work odd and/or extended hours covering a 24/7 period and periodic 12-hour shifts. A comprehensive overseas compensation package is offered with this position including relocation assistance.
Role Description:
Sr. Principal Operations Engineer - Trainer regular duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Successfully complete and maintain an initial operator certification and progress towards certification while supporting a minimum requirement of real-time operations shifts per quarter

Oversee and lead reviews, updates and validation of standard operating procedures, and training material for multiple generations of systems

Develop, organize, maintain, manage and deliver initial, upgrade and refresh training to the Operations team in both classroom and simulator environments.

Review and support factory design working groups and future systems development activities for impacts to system operability

Work with a multi-site Enterprise to establish and maintain program processes and standards

Develop, maintain, and utilize necessary trending and monitoring tools/scripts in Perl, Python, etc.

Utilize agile processes and tools that include Jira, Confluence, and Git, to coordinate departmental tasking

System performance improvement tasks involving Perl programming and standard operating procedure modifications

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline plus 8 years of relevant technical/engineering experience OR Masters of Science Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline plus 6 years of relevant technical/engineering experience

Experience with LINUX, Perl, AGILE SW development tools and CI/CD

Experience with monitoring tools/scripts (perl, python, etc.)

Experience with training development and execution

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Clearance, SCI Access and complete a counterintelligence polygraph examination prior to start date

Preferred Qualifications:

Active DoD Top Secret Clearance / SCI Access with a counterintelligence (CI) polygraph examination adjudicated within the last three years

Prior operations and/or systems engineering experience

Experience working in a geographically diverse team and matrix organization

Experience with all phases of training life cycle including developing, organization of, maintaining of, managing of and delivery of initial, upgrade and refresh training to the Operations team in both classroom and simulator environments.

Familiar with simulator maintenance and configuration in support of executing operator training

* Familiar with AI/ML tools

Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
