The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital component of the Missile Defense System. It provides a key operational platform that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively manage networked sensors and weapon systems to meet global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, delivering an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It functions as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to improve overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a critical component of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities.
The Deputy will assist the Staff Engineering Project Manager in ensuring technical requirements, cost, and schedule are effectively executed. The role acts as a key supporting function in managing the technical integration of teams, risk mitigation, and lifecycle requirements compliance within the Missile Defense System environment. Taking on this role offers opportunities to collaborate with diverse professionals and further develop leadership skills in an impactful mission area. This position requires some travel (up to 35%) between program facilities, mainly at sites in Colorado Springs, CO, and Huntsville, AL.
Key Responsibilities:
The Deputy Engineering Project Manager will directly support the Engineering Project Manager and associated SE&V teams to ensure program success, including but not limited to:

Technical Support and Coordination:
Assist in maintaining the Technical Solution Baseline and overall architecture integrity.
Facilitate and track technical communications across Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and Resource Managed Organizations (RMAs).
Follow up on technical issues to ensure their resolution is aligned with program requirements.

Systems Integration:
Support the breakdown of system requirements and their allocation to ARTs and RMAs.
Perform detailed tracking of changes to system requirements and verify compliance.

Project Execution Support:
Assist in the planning and maintenance of technical documents, such as:
Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP)
System Integration Plan
Risk Management Plan

Help monitor and report on technical metrics and deliverables.
Contribute to the management of Control Account responsibilities owned by SE&V

Risk and Opportunity Support:
Support the identification, assessment, and tracking of risks and opportunities at the SE&V level

Collaboration & Reporting:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet program objectives and deadlines.
Provide regular status updates to the Engineering Project Manager and other team leaders.

Salary range in Huntsville: $131,100 - $196,700
Salary range in Colorado Springs: $124,900 - $187,300
Basic Qualifications:
Please include your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

A Bachelor's Degree in STEM Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master's degree (preferred) in a STEM related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or PhD in a related discipline with 4 years of relevant work experience
Applicants must possess a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the ability to obtain Top Secret security clearance
Ability and willingness to travel up to 35% to support business needs are required
Foundational knowledge of systems engineering processes, systems integration, and requirements management
Basic familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) principles
Experience working in Agile Development Environments (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
Effective written and verbal communication skills to interact with interdisciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Systems Engineering is highly preferred
Certification: INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification
Certification: Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP - MBF)
Current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application is highly desired
Prior experience working with C2BMC, Missile Defense Systems, or similar programs
Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and tools
Certification in project management or Agile practices (e.g., PMI, Scrum, or SAFe)

Primary Level Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $196,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
