Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Sr. Principal Quality Engineer to join our San Diego based Quality team. The selected candidate will represent the Quality and Mission Assurance department supporting a program in a Program Quality Engineer role, with responsibility for the overall program quality over the lifecycle of the program.
What You'll Get to Do:
The Sr. Principal Engineer Quality Outside the Continental US (OCONUS) supports a Program(s) in Field Engineering role, with responsibility for the overall functional quality, readiness and compliance to contractual and internal requirements. The Engineer's primary responsibilities across this lifecycle include:

Developing and implementing quality to the Field Quality Engineering \ Plan,

Planning/establishing the baseline for the field engineering quality scope,

Support execution of all ground operations, safety, logistics, test and installation plans and other quality oversight functions as needed to ensure successful mission and execution.

Monitoring and control of all site performance as it pertains to ensuring reliability, safety and maintainability.

Driving and supporting Continuous Improvement (CI) activities on the supported program

Establishing good working relationships with internal and external customer and government representatives to facilitate demonstration of conformance to requirements of the finished work products.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related STEM field with a minimum of 9 years of experience in a quality assurance, mission assurance, or related engineering role.

Experience with the basic principles in various engineering disciplines.

Experience resolving routine design and engineering tasks with minor assistance

Cross-Sectional interactions with stakeholders (manufacturing and QC personnel in the field to provide solutions using Quality principles and practices)

Must be familiar with standard Visual and Mechanical Inspection techniques and tools.

Experience in root cause analysis and corrective action

Proficient computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance

US Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience working in a Program Quality role

Experience working within an ISO 9001/AS9100 Quality Management System Environment

Familiarity with standard non-destructive testing techniques and tools in a field engineering, aircraft mechanic, test and flight environment.

Experience collecting and analyzing metrics.

Demonstrated ability to work with minimal oversight and in a multi-discipline team environment.

Demonstrated problem solving skills in a flight operations environment implementing solutions to complicated technical issues

Ability to document, plan and manage projects

Experience working on DOD contracts

Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
