Northrop Grumman Defense System (NGDS) is seeking a Sr. Principal Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to support the AARGM-ER, SiAW, and future programs in Northridge California.
This position requires the selected candidate to work full-time on site in Northridge California. Relocation assistance while not guaranteed, may be available.
Role:
The role of the Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (AME) is to launch innovative defense platforms from a manufacturing vantage point. The AME will use advanced knowledge of manufacturing engineering fundamentals to help Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) deliver innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers. The AME shall influence the development of NGDS's next generation of Defense products by supporting new products from concept development through the start of production for manufacturing cost, yield, and schedule execution. This individual will work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Program Management, IPT Lead, Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Operations to ensure producibility meets the program targets, including Yield and cost take out.
Job Description
The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the tasks outlined below:
- Serves as the lead technical manufacturing conscience on the AARGM-ER, SiAW, and future programs.
- Primary responsibility for the methods and techniques used to build products. Focus given to mistake proof processes that are balanced and tailored to the takt time.
- Ensures the implemented processes achieves the design intent.
- Support Test Engineering, Mission Assurance, and Metrology to select and implement test equipment and measurement devices.
- Develops and communicates standard times.
- Defines and selects and as required, designs the equipment, tooling and processes required to easily assemble products.
- Participate and execute on make/buy decisions, maintain MBOMs, and develop routings and work instructions for products in Costpoint ERP, Solumina MES, and Teamcenter.
- Provides training and guidance to assemblers, inspectors, and to a lesser degree technicians.
- Participates in NC dispositions and CARs. Respect 5-day maximum cycle time. Use tools such as 5 whys, 8D, etc. to analyze problems and determine root cause of production problems.
- Resolves assembly issues. Focus on process failure mode effects analysis (PFMEA).
- Provide analysis utilizing Design for Manufacturability and Assembly techniques.
- Provides guidance on continuous improvement activities. Respond to kaizens that impact assembly instructions.
- Develop process maps.
- Actively participate in Program Management Reviews (PMR) and Change Control Boards (CCB)
- Supports the production team to ensure on-time deliveries.
- Travel is required in an effort to support mission success.
- A B.S. degree and 9-14 years of related experience OR a M.S degree 7-12 years of related experience.
- Must have a current active secret clearance that has been issued/adjudicated in the last five years.
- Possess basic knowledge on performing engineering evaluations of mechanical and electrical.
- Candidate must have knowledge of IPC standard.
- Proven ability to lead independent review teams, uncover and resolve complex challenges, and present results to all levels of leadership.
Salary Range: $120,900 - $181,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
