Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Sr. Principal Electronics Engineer - Aircraft Cockpit Systems to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.
This person will serve as a senior engineer supporting on Avionics Integration of Aircraft Cockpit Systems.
Essential Functions:
Provide Avionics Integration engineering support for the integration of aircraft cockpit systems and components including Flight Management Systems (FMS), Flight Management Computers (FMCs), Primary Flight Displays (PFDs), Control Display Units (CDUs), Helmet Mounted Devices (HMD), Terrain Avoidance and Warning Systems (TAWS), Crew Alerting System (CAS), Moving Maps, and other various avionics systems.
Assist in the preparation and support the verification of aircraft avionics and Prime Mission Equipment installations and aircraft certification documents.
Provides Critical Skills to teams with internal and external knowledge of the technical industry and how it impacts the company. Serves as an expert for Avionics Flight Management Integration.
Provide support for the development of system safety documents.
Create aircraft system schematics to support air vehicle wiring diagrams.
Requirements development and analysis and supporting trade studies.
Manage suppliers, review and analysis of supplier design data, definition of functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration, and support test execution.
Informal and formal testing of subsystem requirements in lab, troubleshooting hardware in the lab.
Supporting flight test activities and post flight data analysis, and resolution of flight test anomalies.
A successful Senior Principal Engineer has good leadership skills and understands the scope of the work and the impact of the work on other teams. The engineer consistently brings up concerns, issues and risk and holds themselves to a high level of technical rigor
Basic Qualifications:
Sr. Principal Electronics Engineer - Aircraft Cockpit Systems (T04):
Must have a Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 8 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 6 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. AND 4 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering.
Must have an active DoD Secret clearance that is in-scope (granted or renewed within the last 6 years).
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain DoD Top Secret clearance.
Experience with integration of COTS electronics into military systems
Experience with system modeling and requirements management tools (Cameo, DOORS, Rhapsody, etc.), developing/maturing requirements, and tracing requirements through various levels
Preferred Qualifications:
Communication, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) experience
Performance Based Navigation (PBN) experience and attaining PBN certification
Required Navigation Performance (RNP)/ Area Navigation (RNAV) certification experience
Experience designing to RTCA DO-178 software standard for RNP RNAV certification
Experience designing to RTCA DO-254 hardware standard for airborne electronic systems
Experience designing to RTCA DO-200 standard for processing aeronautical data
Experience designing to RTCA DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 standards for environmental qualifications
Current/active Special Program Access (PAR/SAP)
Experience with MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429 and Ethernet communication protocols
Agile Scrum and Jira Experience
Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
