Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an opening for a Software Engineering Manager Physical Security to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Roy, Utah or Bellevue, Nebraska, supporting the Strategic Deterrent Systems Division.

The Sentinel Physical Security team is seeking a highly motivated individual that will lead and manage a PS Software Subsystem team.

The PS Software Subsystem Lead is responsible for leading a team of SW developers, SW testers, and System Administrators in the design, prototyping, development, test, and delivery of SW to support critical milestones to the GBSD Program. The team will provide innovative and effective software engineering solutions to complex technical problems. Tasks include managing all aspects (technical, schedule, and cost) of the SW team; staffing; leading the team in organic growth proposals (including CROMs & ECPs), authoring TD/BOEs and proposal development (including submission, capture, and negotiations); interfacing frequently with internal and external stakeholders, including cross-program counterparts and the customer. Execution of the above will take place in an agile environment implementing agile and DevSecOps principles and tenets including scrum at scale.

The PS Software Subsystem Lead will set and operate to program objectives and provide guidance to employees consistent with the PS element milestones. Additional responsibilities include planning, risk and opportunity management, subcontractor content management, and project performance including Control Account Manager. Candidate will work closely with the PS Element Lead and associated organizational peers to successfully execute and delivery mission critical development and integration activities for Physical Security software.

  • Provides Functional Management oversight for a team of Engineers.
  • Provides staffing and workload forecasting; employee inclusion, engagement, mentoring and career development; employee training and identification and training of skills required to execute on programs.
  • Provides Problem Solving Expertise and capability to mentor the team in problem solving skills
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills are required and the ideal candidate will have demonstrated success collaborating and leading technical teams.
  • Provides Leadership for the technical direction of the Software Subsystem
  • Ensures the communication of the project or product status and path forward is clear and provided to all stakeholders
  • Drives the Metrics for Quality, Schedule, Cost and Productivity for the Software Subsystem effort. Continuous Process Improvement
  • Provides leadership and management of scope, schedule and budget associated with subcontractors supporting the Software Subsystem development activity
  • Coordinates with Program Management, Development Engineering, Operation Areas, and Manufacturing Management to ensure plans are created and resolution of technical issues
  • Technical Contributor and Process Implementation Support as part of the
  • Management Team.
This position is a dual-hat position requiring the candidate to perform functional management activities as well as cyber software engineering. It is expected that the functional management role will comprise 10% to 20% of the candidate's time.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
  • 6 Years of applicable experience with Bachelor's degree or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years.
  • US Citizenship with ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
  • Ability to obtain DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against a schedule.
  • 2 years of proven demonstrated management skills.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
  • Bachelors in STEM
  • Masters degree in Engineering or other technical discipline
  • Active DoD Top Secret or DoD Top Secret w/ SAR
  • 4 years' experience in program management including subcontractor management.
  • Experienced in all aspects of the engineering development lifecycle.
  • High proficiency in problem solving.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.

Salary Range: $131,200 - $196,800

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
