The ideal candidate will have experience in systems engineering lifecycle of missile / weapon system development program(s), supporting requirements development / verification activities and sell-off. They will have technical knowledge in one or more of the subsystems of missile/weapon system, e.g., RF/sensors, guidance, navigation, control, telemetry, communication, and airframe. This candidate will work with Subject Matter Expert, Test Engineering, and Program Manager to support the various systems engineering activities.
In this role, the selected candidate will (but not be limited to):
Lead systems engineering (SE) activities, driving SE processes as well as the integration of other engineering disciplines on the development program.
Support Customer in their mission planning with the use of a target description file, tuning the input parameters to optimize the performance of the multiple sensors of the missile based on the mission.
Support functional analysis and systems trade studies for technical solutions with respect to concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and maintenance.
Develop well-defined and executable system and subsystem requirements documents, interface documents, and test and verification documents.
Support systems engineering metrics and technical performance measurement tracking.
Interface with inter-organizational management and external Customer to communicate technical briefing and program status.
Manage the development progress and technical content from subcontractors.
Support the preparation of system engineering materials during technical reviews.
Support Program Management activities to ensure cost and schedule objectives are met; support program status efforts including Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tracking and Control Account Management (CAM) activities.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in Northridge, CA. This position in contingent upon contract award.

This position can be filled by either a Level 2 or 3 based on qualifications:
Basic qualifications for a Sensor Systems Engineer level (T02) are:
Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of two (2) years of systems engineering experience.
Experience in Systems Engineering Development Lifecycle.
Understanding/Experience in Aircraft interface, e.g., MIL-STD-1760, MIL-STD-1553
Experience in mission planning with domain knowledge in one or more of the subsystems of missile/weapon system, e.g., RF/sensors, guidance, navigation, control, telemetry, communication, and airframe.
Experience in estimating engineering efforts.
Must have proven experience in communicating with peers in a methodical, detailed and process-oriented fashion.
Must have demonstrated experience in providing solutions to a variety of technical problems under general supervision.
Active DoD Secret Clearance.
Basic qualifications for a Sensor Systems Engineer level (T03) are:
Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of five (5) years of systems engineering experience.
Experience in Systems Engineering Development Lifecycle.
Understanding/Experience in Aircraft interface, e.g., MIL-STD-1760, MIL-STD-1553
Experience in mission planning with domain knowledge in one or more of the subsystems of missile/weapon system, e.g., RF/sensors, guidance, navigation, control, telemetry, communication, and airframe.
Experience in estimating engineering efforts.
Must have proven experience in communicating with peers in a methodical, detailed and process-oriented fashion.
Must have demonstrated experience in providing solutions to a variety of technical problems under general supervision.
Active DoD Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in the defense industry or weapon systems.
Experience working with foreign military customers.
Experience in systems engineering tools, such as DOORS, CAMEO.
Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00Salary Range 2: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
