We are seeking a Senior Staff Chief Engineer for assignment to a major deployables production program at our Deployables Operating Unit (DOU) located in Oxnard, CA.

Overview
Reporting to the DOU Director of Engineering, the Senior Staff Chief Engineer is the definitive technical authority for all aspects of engineering on the program and acts as both a technical leader for the engineering team and as an independent advisor to the Program Manager. The Chief Engineer is the central point of contact and authority with the customer for the technical solution. The Chief Engineer has accountability for the system architecture, technical compliance with the system requirements, and system design. Coordinate requirements development, hardware/software design, risk management, integration, verification, and validation activities. Ensure programs are adhering to sound engineering principles and processes in the development, production, test and sustainment of products for our customers in compliance with company policies and procedures. This role collaborates with program management, systems engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, suppliers, and other partners.
Responsibilities:

Serve as the technical authority for the program, and be the engineering liaison to the Program Manager.

Review and ensure system technical compliance with the program Statement of Work (SOW) and system requirements.

Provide oversight for system architecture, design development, and supporting architectural roles.

Ensure adequate requirements and interface development, decomposition, analysis, refinement, allocation, verification, and validation

Coordinate and conduct system performance analysis and trade studies - Establish and manage system error budgets.

Support the Program Manager in risk and opportunity management by identifying and owning risks associated with system performance.

Coordinate and lead Gate Reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) and Failure Review Boards

Develop and maintain product technical baseline, and chair the Engineering Review Board

Maintain cognizance over technical activities within program IPTs and ensure horizontal integration of the best engineering practices from across the company.

Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders (e.g. peers, management, PMO, manufacturing, quality, outside suppliers, etc.)

Be the technical point of contact for customer and respond to technical inquiries.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline and 20+ years' experience in engineering; OR 18+ years' experience with a master's degree in a STEM discipline; OR 15+ years of experience

8+ years of Systems Engineering Integration and Test with project management experience

Detailed knowledge of mechanical design, structures, mechanisms, release and drive actuators, and material selection

Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) experience

Experience working in a Space Systems design or similar/related work environment

Program Review preparation and presentation skills

Advanced analytical and root cause/continuous improvement skills

Effective verbal/written communication skills with the proven ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders

Advanced MS Office skills (Power Point, Excel, Word, MS Project, Outlook)

U.S. Citizenship is a requirement

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Engineering

System Engineering interdisciplinary tools, principles, and practices (DOORS, Cameo)

Experience with space deployable systems

Familiarity with Enovia, NX, Teamcenter

Use of first-order mathematical modeling and simulations to assess feasibility, compare technologies and validate experimental results

Salary Range: $188,200.00 - $282,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
