Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a skilled, experienced Senior Principal Cost Accountant to join our financial reporting and cost accounting team. In this position you will be responsible for overseeing and analyzing cost within the sector. The Lead Cost Accountant must have the ability to apply the principles of accounting to analyze account balances within the Aerospace sector. When reviewing the account balances the account will need to research and process journal entries in a timely manner. This is critical since the correction or adjustments impact the Aerospace programs. It is important that the candidate understand the concept of overhead application. Overheads are the sectors indirect cost, which is flowed down to the programs through the overhead process. As the lead sector cost accountant you will be responsible to perform monthly and quarterly validations on the overheads and allocated cost. You will also work across teams to present and translate financial information and assist in company audits.
Candidates should be familiar with the CO and PS modules in SAP. The lead accountant will spend a great deal of time analyzing the labor and non-labor allocations within the SAP system known as assessments and distributions. Will need to ensure management that costs are allocated according to the established sector procedures. Responsible for uploading and reviewing Project Master Data requests and ensuring all required data fields are correctly completed and uploaded. The AS sectors Project master data includes Profit centers, Networks and WBS. Lead accountant will be responsible for running weekly unsettled reports on the PS master data. The unsettled cost is cost that failed to flow downstream to the other sectors or program WBS.
Will be required to work closely with all the different programs within the AS sector. This requires answering questions and provided status on allocated cost and overheads. Will be responsible for ensuring non labor transfer and accruals are in compliance with policy and processed timely. Being the lead will require you to interact with customers on a daily bases, assisting the programs with research requests or inquires. Must be able to perform with the sector labor accounts and types of labor. Which will lead to detailed analysis and reconciliation of labor allocations. At times the lead accountant will need to work special projects or lead teams on special task.

Must be a team player, quick learner and have good written/oral communication skills. Able to prioritize and multi-task, exercise good judgment, flexible and understands the importance of providing quality customer service.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance with 8 years of related experience in accounting, finance, or similar field; or Master's Degree in accounting or finance with 6 years of related experience in accounting, finance or similar field
2 years of experience with SAP accounting system
Excellent computer skills, experience in accounting software, Microsoft Excel and Word
Preferred Qualifications:
Accurate and precise attention to detail
Ability to multitask , prioritize and manage time efficiently
Capable of leading a team or supervising task
Government Accounting experience
Costing Accounting Standards knowledge
Familiar with the project System and CO modules in SAP
Experience working with auditors

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,200.00 - $154,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
