The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in omni-channel communications strategies, strong writing skills, and knowledge of industry trends to enhance our storytelling to key internal and external audiences.

In this role, the candidate will help lead the development and implementation of integrated communications strategies and plans that advance our brand and reputation as a leader in tactical solid rocket motors, missile components and other weapon systems with the support from cross-functional communications teams. The person will be responsible for developing and ensuring the proper message is delivered to target audiences across a variety of paid, earned and owned channels.
The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter and strategic mastermind capable of overseeing many projects at once, with a strong and passionate knowledge of the aerospace industry. You must be detail-oriented, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have a knack for dissecting a communication task to get to the "why." The candidate must have demonstrable skills in developing strategic communications plans as well as the coordination, development and execution of content creation for scripts, digital, print, and other communications platforms. An understanding of weapon systems, experience in working with US government customers, and the desire and ability to learn and communicate about complex systems highly desired. This position demands a self-motivated, poised, and approachable individual who can work independently, manage multiple deliverables in collaboration with senior executives and employees, and offer sound communications counsel to business partners.
This position may be located in either Rocket Center, WV or McLean, VA.
Specific duties include:

Develop and implement strategic plans and campaigns, in alignment with key business priorities, to bring our story to life across a diverse stakeholder base.
Create engaging and compelling content from start to finish for multiple channels based on customer and market insights, including videos, website content, social media, tradeshow collateral and executive messaging.
Work alongside senior executives to craft internal messages supporting employee engagement, strategic communications and external speaking engagements.
Partner with business development, strategy and program management teams to write product information for business pursuits and captures.
Partner with Communications leadership to execute and project-manage key stakeholder-messaging and reputation-building events, including major facility openings, high-level customer tours of key manufacturing sites, and thought-leadership engagements. Spearhead design of materials, messaging and supporting digital collateral.
Consistently evaluate and make recommendations to business leaders on new and innovative sales and marketing tools to promote products.
Ensure consistency and integration across all messaging platforms with precise attention to detail.
Understand and support the brand vision through careful execution of the design, messaging, voice and approach of all marketing efforts.
Manage execution elements including web, collateral, content, videos, events, demos, PR, digital, social media, advertising, thought leadership etc.

Train and prepare subject matter experts for media interviews and lead interviews with reporters.
Gather and analyze metrics dashboards to identify effectiveness on key campaigns and identify opportunities for improvement.
Writing & Creative Mindset

Exceptional writer to tell our story: identify, conceptualize and produce a diverse array of content (newsletters, leadership messages, feature stories, videos, social, marketing collateral, etc.).
Develop, design or delegate to brand teams: data sheets, infographics, pull-up banners, or other business collateral. Ability to decipher key messaging points to creative copy

Demonstrate

Exceptional writing skills to tell our story: identify, conceptualize and produce a diverse array of content (newsletters, leadership messages, feature stories, videos, social, marketing collateral, etc.).
Experience tailoring strategic messages to a variety of audiences, particularly in translating one message for a diverse range of stakeholders.
Proven experience building integrated marketing/communications campaigns resulting in successful captures.

Excellent project and cross-functional team management skills.
Intellectual curiosity and ability to simplify complex, highly technical topics into engaging and digestible stories.

Established track record of overseeing and/or architecting effective strategic communications plans, especially related to complex topics, with tangible results.
Ability to support and enhance strong communications standards, workflows and branding guidelines while disseminating content across multiple mediums, including digital, print, and more
Affinity for developing relationships with high-level officials and/or industry leaders

Demonstrated proficiency at simplifying and presenting complex data and highly technical topics into engaging and digestible stories.
Basic Qualifications: This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 or a level 4.
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Communications Representative Level 3:

Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience successfully developing and deploying communications practices - OR - 3+ years of experience as outlined above with Master-level degree. An additional four years' experience accepted in lieu of a degree.
Basic Qualifications for a Level 4:

Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience successfully developing and deploying communications practices - OR - 6+ years of experience as outlined above with Master-level degree. An additional four years' experience accepted in lieu of a degree.
Additional Basic Qualifications for both levels:

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) with ability to develop compelling presentations for executives and key influencers. Basic Adobe program (Photoshop, InDesign, Premier Pro) and SharePoint experience preferred.
Possess a high level of integrity when handling sensitive and confidential information.
Strong project management skills.
Demonstrated media relations expertise.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple deliverables.
Experience developing and implementing change management strategies.
A portfolio of material that demonstrates a mastery of writing and communication planning.
Ability to travel up to 25%.
* Ability to obtain a security clearance. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Salary Range: $78,700.00 - $136,800.00Salary Range 2: $98,100.00 - $170,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
