Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) is seeking software engineers with cloud experience to develop and maintain capabilities in support of a new defense program called CHAIN (C4ISR Holistic Analysis of Networks). CHAIN has been designated by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to become the standard C4ISR intelligence and analysis tool across the entire DoD intelligence community (DoD IC). CHAIN will be an entirely cloud-based DevSecOps platform based on Platform One's Big Bang. It will feature the latest in Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) projects and tools. Candidates should have a track record and interest in working with containerized cloud technologies to solve complex challenges and deliver results to support today's modern warfighter and C4ISR intelligence analysts. The CHAIN program is being managed from the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

This position may be filled as a Principal or Sr. Principal Cloud Software Engineer based on the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Cloud Software Engineer:

One of the following:
A high school diploma with a minimum of 9 years of software development experience
A bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of software development experience
A master's degree with a minimum of 3 years of software development experience
A doctorate degree with a minimum of 1 year of software development experience

Experience with full stack web development for public/private/hybrid cloud environments.
Experience with Object-Oriented Design and Programming.
Experience developing and working with containers (Docker, Podman)
Experience developing and working with container orchestration (Kubernetes)
Experience with Git source code management tools (GitHub or GitLab)
Exposure / experience with microservice APIs and Swagger/OpenAPI
Exposure / experience with automated unit and integration testing
Working knowledge of Scrum agile development process
Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results
Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions
Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with co-workers and cloud engineers.
U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance

Experience with full stack web development for public/private/hybrid cloud environments.
Experience with Object-Oriented Design and Programming.

Experience deploying enterprise full stack web applications in cloud environments such as AWS EKS, VMWare TKGS, or Rancher
Experience with DevOps CI/CD Pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab Runners)
Experience with Java or Python
Experience with one or more build ecosystems (Maven, Gradle)
Experience with modern frontend JavaScript frameworks (React.js, Vue.js)
Experience with relational (SQL) databases (PostgreSQL).
Experience with Graph, or Document (NoSQL) databases (MongoDB, ArangoDB, MarkLogic Server).
Experience working with open source Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) projects and tools, including:
Helm charts
ArgoCD
Istio
Keycloak
Open Telemetry
Harbor
Grafana
Prometheus
Jaeger
Minio
Kafka
Elastic

Experience developing microservices using Java Spring Framework or Python FastAPI framework
Experience working with geospatial web tools and data sets (ESRI ArcGIS, OGC services, Cesium, Leaflet)
Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00Salary Range 2: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
