Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital part of the Missile Defense System. It provides an essential operational platform that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively manage networked sensors and weapon systems to meet global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, delivering an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to enhance overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a key component of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's present and future capabilities.
The X-Lab is responsible for developing and integrating prototype capabilities for the Missile Defense System, including Sensor/Weapon Integration, Algorithm Development, User Interface Development, and other key advanced missile defense technologies. The X-Lab requires a candidate with a broad analysis background across multiple disciplines to support prototype performance analysis and results communication. Technical areas of expertise may include, but are not limited to, characterization of large-scale complex system simulations involving ballistic missile threats, weapon systems, and command and control.
Essential Functions:

Analyze real-world data related to Mission Defense
Collect and interpret real-world data
Develop new algorithms to utilize the data effectively
Actively update existing algorithms based on new data
Assist with planning, scheduling, and developing verification analysis tools
Coordinate, develop, and maintain analysis and test tracking tools
Ensure proper backup and archiving of test products and analysis datasets
Work under general guidance with self-motivation
Generate detailed and repeatable tests for specific event objectives
Communicate effectively with internal and external customer contacts and represent the organization in providing solutions to complex technical issues associated with particular projects
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Strong background in math and physics, including probability and statistics
Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master's degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 9 years of relevant experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs are required
Occasional off-hours work may be required during certain events
Must understand software development processes and principles and effectively communicate the desired capabilities to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and system users
Must be comfortable with rapidly changing requirements, design challenges that demand innovative solutions, fast-paced activities, and tight deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:

Practical or theoretical knowledge of ballistic and non-ballistic missile defense concepts, Battle Management and Command and Control (BM/C2) systems, defense communication systems, and Missile Defense Systems (MDS) overall
Experience using Python and MATLAB to support the analysis of complex data, including utilizing software testing and analysis tools
Experience in developing and automating data management processes and tools
Familiarity with Unix/Linux and continuous integration, including experience with Bash or similar scripting
Knowledge of one or more MDS elements:

Experience in using and maintaining databases

Primary Level Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
