Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a System Engineer to join our diverse team, working on the Forward Area Air Defense (FAAD) portfolio of programs in Redondo Beach, CA. The selected candidate will perform system engineering tasks for an Army Air Defense System that includes defense against manned aircraft; rockets, artillery, and mortars; unmanned aerial systems (UAS); and cruise missile defense.
All work must be performed on-site in Redondo Beach.

Principal System Engineer - Bachelor's degree in STEM and 5 years of relevant experience in system engineering related to software systems; or 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD) or 9 years of experience in lieu of degree may be considered
Senior Principal System Engineer - Bachelor's degree in STEM and 8 years of relevant experience in system engineering related to software systems; or 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD) or 12 years of experience in lieu of degree may be considered
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Analyze, assess, evaluate, recommend and implement changes to interface documents developed and managed by the FAAD team
Evaluate impacts to the FAAD system resulting from new or changing interfacing systems (such as weapons and sensors) and updates to military and industry standards
Author ICDs and whitepapers
Support FAAD Requirements, Software and I&T teams in interoperability tasks, including support at off-site integration events
Basic Qualifications:

Understanding of system engineering principles, and their application to a software-based system
Experience in the analysis of diverse systems and their ability to interoperate
Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), requirements development and associated tools such as DOORS and Cameo
Works well with other engineers on a schedule driven program
Strong multi-tasking and time-management skills
Experience functioning in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
Willingness to travel (~4 times per year)
Hold or able to obtain DoD Secret clearance
Following are good to have, but are not required:

Experience working with diverse message types (Protobuf, Binary, XML, etc)
Experience developing use cases, sequence diagrams and activity diagrams
Experience generating ICDs from scratch
Experience with Army or Joint military message or interface standards (e.g., MIL-STD-6016)
Ability to work with diverse technical, programmatic and user communities, supporting the modernization, capability development, integration and test of an Army command and control system
Current DoD Secret Clearance
Primary Level Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
