Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman's Engineering and Test Laboratory is seeking an EMI/EMC Engineer (Electromagnetic Interference/ Electromagnetic Compatibility) to support the EMI/EMC compliance process including technical, cost, and schedule performance at our location outside of Baltimore, Maryland the main Northrop Grumman facility for Electromagnetics compliance.

What You'll Get To Do:

Review and tailor EMI/EMC requirements to meet specified product performance for all aspects of Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) compliance, including EMI/EMC/EME/ESD/EMP and lightning.

Develop models for interference coupling mechanisms, shielding integrity, and circuit/cable interface isolation to mitigate and control conducted /radiated emissions and susceptibility stimuli.

Create test reports, procedures, and control plans and guidelines.

Knowledge of EMI/EMC testing and TILE software is a plus.

The individual should be a self-starter, versatile, a problem solver, and have a willingness to work as part of a team. Individual must be willing to work off-shift hours as necessary and travel occasionally to locations elsewhere in the corporation in order to assist in troubleshooting efforts, attend design review meetings, and support design or test efforts.
This position can be filled as a Level 3 or 4.
Basic Qualifications for a Level 3 Principal EMI/EMC Manufacturing Systems Engineer:

BS or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or related STEM area with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree and 3 years of related experience.

Experience in Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) standards/specifications (or equivalent commercial standards).

Experience and knowledge of EMI/EMC testing to MIL-STD-461.

Experience and knowledge of product qualification testing.

Experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project.

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI polygraph.

US Citizenship Required.

Basic Qualifications for a Level 4 Principal EMI/EMC Manufacturing Systems Engineer:

BS or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or related STEM area with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree and 6 years of related experience.

Experience in Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) standards/specifications (or equivalent commercial standards).

Experience and knowledge of EMI/EMC testing to MIL-STD-461.

Experience and knowledge of product qualification testing.

Experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project.

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI polygraph.

US Citizenship Required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current active US Secret or Top Secret security clearance

Previous EMI/EMC design experience

Experience working TILE software for the purpose of EMI testing

Experience working Mathcad analytical models for radiated electrical fields and to estimate parasitic coupling of EMI induced electromagnetic energy through power supplies, chassis, and electronic modules

* NARTE certification

Salary Range: $105,400.00 - $158,000.00Salary Range 2: $0.00 - $0.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
