This position, based in Huntsville, AL, plays a vital role in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.
This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a crucial part of the Missile Defense System. It provides an essential operational platform that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to methodically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control networked sensors and weapon systems to meet global and regional mission goals.

C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, providing an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It functions as a force multiplier by linking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to enhance overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a key component of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities.
Essential Functions:
Will be responsible for software development in Java for the Regional Applications Battle Management team in Huntsville, AL.
Under minimal guidance, offers specialized expertise across multiple systems and software disciplines, along with general knowledge of related fields, application implications, and customer areas
Performing in-depth analysis and providing technical support for system software products, including complex problem solving, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user assistance
Maintains currency, debugs, and configures related software products
Develops or modifies operating system applications based on specifications
Supports design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging, and documenting programs
Collaborate with other system support groups to resolve issues, establish standards, and enhance the overall efficiency of the operating system
Designs, codes, tests, and implements tools for automating operations
Works on most phases of software systems programming applications, and may require minor instruction and guidance in other phases
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of related experience, or 1 year of related experience with a PhD. Or 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs
Candidates with an active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (e.g., Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA) are strongly preferred at the time of application. If such a certification is not held, it must be obtained within 40 days of the start date. The selected candidate will be responsible for securing and maintaining their DoD 8140 certification on their own personal time and at their own expense. Candidates who fail to obtain the required certification within 40 days will be evaluated for removal and subject to termination.
Software engineering and development with extensive Java/J2EE experience or an alternative OO development background
Will have experience and knowledge of software practices such as coding standards, automated testing, automated build pipelines, and configuration management
Problem-solving skills, including the ability to review performance and operational issues, identify root causes, recommend, design, and implement solutions
Use of common software development and management tools such as:
Maven
Git/GitHub
Nexus
Eclipse
Knowledge of Agile development practices
Understanding standard system engineering design artifacts like Use Cases and SysML diagrams
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Agile development methodologies
Experience in developing enterprise applications on Linux; Windows experience is also preferred
Development of command and control system applications
Experience in software integration and formal testing
Knowledge and experience in implementing Cyber Security and RMF standards
Ability to communicate complex concepts to non-software professionals, including senior program and military leaders
Experience in performance modeling
Experience with microservices
Experience with DevSecOps and/or build management
Willingness to accept unexpected tasking
Ability to work independently and demonstrate the poise and flexibility needed to succeed in a highly dynamic environment

Primary Level Salary Range: $105,400.00 - $158,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
