Northrop Grumman is seeking a Software Engineer to work as a member of an Operations and Maintenance team member in Harrogate, reporting to the Head of System Operations.

Responsibilities:

Monitoring system and subsystem operation and performance and preparing periodic status reports

Performing system performance improvement tasks involving scripting and standard operating procedure modifications

Investigating and responding to all indications of anomalous system performance

Assisting in the preparation and review of standard operations procedures and system redundancy management documentation

Supporting system reconfiguration and mode changes

Supporting special system operations of a non-routine nature

Monitoring several systems and implementing procedures required in response to anomalous behavior

Monitoring equipment health and status to ensure the highest possible level of mission readiness

Continuous core skill improvement training

Follow-on advanced training

The engineer will be expected to work a non-traditional work week that will include occasional 12 hour shifts and weekends

We are looking for:

Bachelor of Science undergraduate degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with relevant technical/engineering experience OR Masters of Science Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with relevant technical/engineering experience. For exceptional candidates we will review experience on a case-by-case basis.

Must be able to thrive and be an effective leader and contributor

Must be able to lead briefs and offer opportunities to decision makers

Proven leadership experience on a project and/or team in complex and demanding environments

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior operations and/or systems / software engineering experience

Experience with Linux OS and scripting tools e.g. Python and/or Perl

Experience with Atlassian tool suite (e.g. Confluence, JIRA, etc.)

Experience working in a geographically diverse team and matrix organization

Any experience of Flask Web Framework or Jupyter Notebooks is desirable.
