Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Principal Project Manager to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.
The selected candidate will oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing technical projects, providing critical coordination and ensuring seamless execution from inception to close-out.
In this role, the individual will take ownership of document preparation and coordinate with various stakeholders, including Configuration Data Management (CDM) , to support key technical review processes such as the Engineering Review Board (ERB) , Technical Review Board (TRB) , and Configuration Control Board (CCB) . Strong familiarity with project management tools and methodologies, as well as technical aerospace projects, is essential.
The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in industry standards, have demonstrated experience with advanced project management tasks, and exhibit strong leadership skills to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee operational aspects of avionics integration and related technical programs.
Perform advanced project management tasks, ensuring adherence to program goals, schedules, and budgets.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate inputs and deliverables for ERB, TRB, and CCB proceedings.
Prepare and manage formal documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
Utilize tools including Microsoft Excel (pivot tables) , Jira , and PowerPoint to track project deliverables and maintain visibility across teams.
Implement Earned Value Management System (EVMS) practices to track cost and schedule performance metrics.
Brief leadership on program status, risks, and milestones, maintaining clear communication across levels of management.
Motivate and build a high-performing team while fostering collaboration and ensuring consistent operational outcomes.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Project Manager:
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience OR Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 3 years of experience OR PhD and 1 year of experience
A Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of relevant business or administrative experience may also be considered.
Active DoD Secret Clearance granted or renewed within the last six years.
Proven experience in project management, particularly in highly technical programs or aerospace-related fields.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables), PowerPoint, and Project (scheduling).
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise in Earned Value Management (EVMS) and demonstrated cost/schedule management experience.

CAM/EVM Basic Certification
Primary Level Salary Range: $78,700.00 - $118,100.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
