Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a crucial part of the Missile Defense System. It provides an essential operational platform that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC provides a layered missile defense capability, delivering an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to enhance overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a key component of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities.
The Obsolescence Sustainment Engineer will play a vital role in executing and enhancing the End of Sale/End of Life (EOS-EOL) program for the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) system. This involves identifying, analyzing, and resolving obsolescence issues for hardware and software components across the enterprise. The position requires regular collaboration with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), cross-functional product teams, and government customers. The engineer will deliver innovative and practical solutions to mitigate obsolescence risks, ensuring operational readiness and product sustainability.
This position requires a high level of technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment. The candidate must show proficiency in sustainment and logistics practices while fostering collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Failure to meet deliverables could lead to significant program delays and increased resource use, highlighting the importance of the role.
Essential Functions:

Obsolescence Mitigation

Research end-of-sale and end-of-life (EOS/EOL) conditions for enterprise hardware and software, ensuring timely identification of obsolescence issues

Propose and develop innovative, comprehensive solutions to reduce obsolescence risks in collaboration with cross-functional teams and OEMs

Briefly outline proposed actions for task order leadership and DoD customers for approval

Program Implementation

Oversee and continually enhance the EOS-EOL program within the C2BMC system

Collaborate with product teams to ensure complete implementation and execution of approved obsolescence mitigation actions

Make sure all sustainment efforts follow Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and lifecycle sustainment strategies

Documentation and Communication

Create presentations, technical briefings, and documentation to share findings, solutions, and strategies with leadership and stakeholders

Keep detailed records of obsolescence actions, including procedures, solutions, and lessons learned

Cross-functional Coordination

Establish and maintain regular communication with OEMs, internal product teams, and external stakeholders

Assist other Sustainment Product Team members as needed to accomplish comprehensive sustainment goals

Other Duties

Perform related tasks and assignments as needed to support program sustainability and mission-critical operations

Proven ability to apply industry principles, theories, and concepts to solve complex problems with innovative solutions

Experience in product/system sustainment, logistics, acquisition, product lifecycle management, or product deployment

Skilled in delivering complex technical briefings. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities effectively

Regularly engaged with internal and external customers, demonstrating professionalism and technical expertise

Experience working with cross-functional, geographically diverse product teams



Basic Qualifications:

Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

A Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Project Management, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master's degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 9 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree

Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start

Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% to support business needs

Excel: Moderate to advanced proficiency, including strong capabilities to process and analyze large data sets using tables, graphs, and formulas

PowerPoint: Ability to create, edit, format, and present technical information clearly and effectively

Databases: Demonstrated experience working with sustainment tools and databases

Engineering Drawings: Proficiency in reading and utilizing engineering drawings

Deep understanding of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and sustainment concepts

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience supporting government or DoD customers
Knowledge of lifecycle sustainment strategies and project management principles
Familiarity with Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) principles and researching hardware/software obsolescence
Experience with document automation through scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Visual Basic
Exposure to Agile framework and levels of the development lifecycle (engineering, development, testing, installation, and deployment)
Familiarity with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) product lifecycle

Primary Level Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
