Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) seeks to fill a Principal Software Engineer/Senior Principal Software Engineer in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU) to support a new Ground program. This position can be filled at Morrisville, NC, Fairfax, VA, Linthicum, MD or Aurora CO.
What you'll get to do?
As a Software Engineer on this team, you will support a team of engineers to define, develop, decompose, analyze, verify, and validate requirements for a Ground Segment. In this role, you will be supporting program leadership and the customer to define and maintain the technical baseline. Ultimately, you will support the program through maturity and milestones to achieve the mission, ensuring everything is synchronized.
We have multiple Software Engineering positions across the Ground program, on contract to deliver the ground segment for a restricted space program. This work will span command and control, mission planning and scheduling, mission processing, and system infrastructure. We have anticipated future growth to deliver additional ground capabilities.
The successful candidate will have broad Software Engineering lifecycle knowledge, with the ability to digest changes and present them to the technical and management teams in concise briefings. The candidate is expected to operate independently with little oversight in a dynamic environment, to be highly self-motivated, reporting information to IPT leads, and the customer. The individual is expected to handle diverse assignments with efficiency, finding unique solutions and working in a very collaborative and fast paced environment that continues to grow. Experience with system modeling is preferred.
Qualifications
This position may be performed at a Principal Software Engineer level or Senior Principal Software Engineer level depending on the qualifications, skills, and experience of the candidate.
Principal Software Engineer: Bachelor's degree in STEM and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; 3 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree
Senior Principal Software Engineer: B achelor's degree in STEM and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; 7 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree
Basic Qualifications:
• Must be a US Citizen with an active TS/SCI
• Proficient in Python programming
• Experience with developing microservices
• Experience working in a cloud environment
Preferred Qualifications :
• Polygraph (CI or FSP)
• Experience using Kubernetes
• Experience working with Docker containers and Helm charts
• Familiarity with space vehicle ground segment design
• Experience with Agile development
• Excellent technical writing and team building skills
Salary Range: $97,500 - $160,900
Salary Range 2: $121,000 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
