We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal / Sr Principal Electromechanical Engineer based out of San Diego, CA. As a Principal / Sr Principal Electromechanical Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You'll get to Do:
Solve complex technical issues with limited supervision
Mechanical design and packaging of special test equipment (STE) antenna, RF, digital, infrastructure, and test hardware products, including avionics modules, racks, and interface test adapters.
Perform thermal and structural analyses as required.
Support electrical-mechanical tradeoffs and physical verification and qualification testing for new designs, as required.
Mentor & lead jr. electromechanical engineers
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications for Principal Electromechanical Engineer:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or closely related STEM field with a minimum of 5 years related experience; OR 3 years related experience with a Masters (MS) degree in STEM. 1 year of experience with a PhD
Experience with electronics packaging design, including special test equipment (STE) design, CAD modeling techniques, GD&T, EMI concerns, and thermal/structural analysis methods.
Proficiency in CATIA V5, Solidworks, and/or relevant CAD software.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Capable of designing to a hardware requirements specification.
Demonstrated understanding of mechanical design principles and techniques.
Demonstrated success working individually or as part of a team requiring little supervision.
CLEARANCE: Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
Basic Qualifications for Sr Principal Electromechanical Engineer:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or closely related STEM field with a minimum of 8 years related experience; OR 6 years related experience with a Masters (MS) degree in STEM. 4 years with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:
Hardware Lead experience leading a multi-disciplinary team of mechanical/electrical engineers
CAM/EVMS Certification or CAM/EVMS experience
Experience driving preliminary/critical design reviews for mechanical and electrical designs
Experience working with Global Supply Chain (GSC)
Proposal Lead and BOE writing experience
Primary Level Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
