Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Principal Electronics Engineer (Hardware Design) OR a Senior Principal Electronics Engineer (Hardware Design) to join a team of engineers who are responsible for the architecture, design, and build of large data centers using commercially available IT equipment.

This position will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment teaming closely with other hardware and software engineers in lab and production environments. Travel will be up to 25%.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborate with engineers, facilitating hardware procurement to meet design requirements and program needs.
  • Document, develop, and improve existing process(es)
  • Monitor and manage software licenses and support agreements, as well as their expiration dates
  • Organize, track, and document hardware movement
  • Generate and maintain data center BoMs
  • Collaborate with system Architects on initial system design
  • Generate system Power requirements
This position can be filled at either the Principal Electronics Engineer (Hardware Design) OR a Senior Principal Electronics Engineer (Hardware Design) level, depending upon the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Electronics Engineer (Hardware Design):
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in STEM with 0 years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Active DoD Top Secret with an investigation or re-investigation within the last 6 years OR be enrolled in continuous evaluation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/SAR). This SAP/SAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Electronics Engineer (Hardware Design):
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with 9 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in STEM with 7 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in STEM with 4 years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Active DoD Top Secret with an investigation or re-investigation within the last 6 years OR be enrolled in continuous evaluation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/SAR). This SAP/SAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications for both levels:
  • Active SAP/SAR
  • Knowledge of procurement process and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
  • Experience with building IT data centers and their design/architecture
  • Familiarity with Windows, Solaris, Linux, and other Oracle systems
  • Proficient in Excel, Visio, and VBA
Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900
Salary Range 2: $133,000 - $199,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
