The position requires on-site support located in Palmdale, CA where technology and teamwork come together. The selected candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Engineering Team working in a collaborative environment while promoting a positive and proactive teamwork environment. This position has the opportunity to accommodate a hybrid schedule but will require in office days.

Data Scientist job duties involve the following:

Creates data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting, and data analysis methodologies to diagnose product lifecycle applications and associated tool suites

Create test data in multiple product lifecycle applications and associated tool suites to test and validate system behavior

Analyze multiple data sources in detail to identify trends and patterns using engineering fundamentals

Administer databases utilizing strong skills at sourcing data from a wide variety of formats

Analyze database configurations to optimize the performance of end user models and dashboards

Develop resilient and scalable pipelines capable of moving large volumes of data

Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of data sources and data gathering techniques

Coordinate with different functional teams to implement solutions and monitor outcomes

What you need to be successful in the role:

Comfort with requirements-analysis and stake-holder engagement

Strong problem-solving skills and root-cause analysis to ensure that curated data is accurate, repeatable, and explainable

Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and visual)

Ability to communicate data and engineering analysis regarding conclusions that were reached

Excellent attention to detail

Development /programming of tools to improve pipeline efficiency, eliminate repetitive tasks, and implement new analysis tools/techniques

Prioritization skills to manage workload and make sound decisions for assigned team's data analysis activities

Ability to create and present data reports to support investigations

Ability to accurately document issues through ticketing or other tracking systems

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with 4 years of technical and/or engineering experience, Master's degree with 3 years or technical and/or engineering experience or PhD with 0 years of experience

Strong understanding of JavaScript, SQL, Python, Tableau

Understanding of PLM (product lifecycle management) software

Experience with working through a ticketing or equivalent issue/task tracking system

Experience in data gathering, cleansing and transformation techniques

Understanding of Agile Software Development

Understanding of Mechanical Engineering Concepts/Theory and Production Operations

Experience manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from multiple sources / systems of record

Experience mentoring and leading peers in data engineering projects

Experience with ETL tools, data analytics platforms, and reporting services

Excellent communication skills and customer facing experience

Proven ability to learn and master new technologies and techniques

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs

Ability to work 1st shift and any work schedule (times may vary)

Ability to travel at least 25%

Preferred Qualifications:

STEM Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering/Computer Science

Current and active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance

Hands-on experience with core Python data science tools (Numpy, Pandas, Matplotlib, SciKit-Learn, etc.)

Hands-on experience with deep learning libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.)

Experience with anomaly detection and synthetic data strategies for machine learning

Experience with computer vision (CNN, Transformer architectures) and image/video data preparation for machine learning

Hands-on experience with time series analysis and sequence modeling

Experience with Cloud environments (Azure, AWS-SageMaker, S3, etc.)

Agile development

* Experience developing tools to improve efficiency, eliminate repetitive tasks, and implement new analysis tools/techniques.

Salary Range: $121,400.00 - $182,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
