This is a full-time work onsite position, located at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, MD.

The test team has an opening for a TD to conduct developmental ground and flight tests. Candidates must fully understand the role of flight test engineering and the requisite organizational support in executing flight test programs. This position requires knowledge of Flight Test operations in support of developmental air vehicle and mission system testing. Role responsibilities include participating in all facets of flight test planning and execution in multiple areas including requirements development, test planning, test event preparation, and test coordination. However, test execution will be the primary role of this position. Execution includes planning the event (preparing flight profiles and test cards, etc.), briefing (pre/post), leading the event, and completing post event reporting such as a flash report. The candidate will also be responsible for coordinating appropriate resources and assets for the event (aircrew, airspace, etc.) with the scheduling team in support of the test event. The candidate may also be responsible for chase vehicle duties. This includes obtaining an airfield driver's license and completing a qualification training plan. As a key member of the Triton Integrated Test Team, the selected candidate will interface with the customer to assist in the development and modification of test plans as required to support test.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Test Engineer:

Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of related professional/military experience with a background in engineering, OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of related professional/military experience with a background in engineering.
Previously qualified Test Director with control room experience.
Must have a Secret security clearance and be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended Shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able to work plane-side both indoors and outside.
The ability to obtain and retain a Program Security Clearance is required as a condition of employment.
Basic Qualifications for Sr Principal Test Engineer:

Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 9 years of related professional/military experience with a background in engineering, OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 7 years of related professional/military experience with a background in engineering.
Previously qualified Test Director with control room experience.
Must have a Secret security clearance and be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able to work plane-side both indoors and outside.
The ability to obtain and retain a Program Security Clearance is required as a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications for both levels:

SIGINT/ESM/RADAR/EO/IR fight test experience desired.
Experience in unmanned air vehicle flight test execution.
Previous experience working in an Integrated Test Team.
Experience and working knowledge of NAVINST 3960 test planning process.
* DOD Top Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and retain a Special Access Program clearance.

Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00Salary Range 2: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
