P-3 IHR SCA Aircraft Mechanic I or II - Days Nights Weekends

Northrop Grumman is seeking experienced personnel with P-3 aircraft structures mechanic background to support back shop maintenance program with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in Jacksonville, FL. The CBP P-3 fleet consists of Airborne Early Warning (AEW) and Long-Range Tracker (LRT) high-endurance, all-weather, tactical turbo-prop aircraft. The AEW aircraft are utilized primarily for long-range patrols along the entire U.S. border, and in source and transit zone countries. The LRT aircraft are used to intercept, track airborne and surface threats in source and transit zone countries. The P-3 aircraft are equipped with state-of-the-art, highly sophisticated sensor equipment, i.e., radar, electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) detecting systems.

This position is located in Green Cove Springs, FL.

This is a Service Contract Act position.
This position will require you to work different shifts as required by the program needs: Days, Nights or Weekends.
Your duties will include:

Performs a variety of Depot Level operations to assemble and repair major aircraft structures such as primary flight controls, secondary flight controls, fuselage panels, longerons, stringers, formers, and structural subassemblies that include engine cowl panels and shrouds.

Aligns parts on jigs using templates and fixtures

Performs such part-fitting operations as filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming

Measures parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions

May modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes to structure

May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures

Plans, lay's out, fabricates, assembles, install and repairs both internal and external aircraft structures at the Depot level

Break down and build-up of main and nose tire and wheel assemblies

Assemble aircraft structures and associated components with the aid of jigs and fixtures by drilling, filing, filling, honing, reaming, counter-sinking, dimpling, burring and fastening

Perform close tolerance assembly operations such as: shimming, fitting, trimming, and aligning where variances may occur considerably from one assembly to another as with fairings and the mating of major structural assemblies

Effectively communicate, vocally, by handwriting and email with other employees, members of supervision, and others, as required in their duties

Document maintenance and repair actions, equipment status tags, logs, parts requests, etc.

Perform assigned duties without burden due to weather or physical location and conditions.

Order parts, check stock, tools, materials, and equipment as required to perform assigned duties.

Responsible for complying with all rules and regulations concerning health and safety, tool control, FOD control.

Basic Qualifications:
This position may be hired as a Level I or Level II based on candidate experience:
1. Level I: A minimum of 4 yrs of structures experience on P-3 or similar platform (C-130) and a High School diploma.
Level II: A minimum of 8 yrs of structures experience on P-3 or similar platform (C-130) and a High School diploma.
2. FAA Airframe Certificate or FAA Powerplant Certificate. (or ability to obtain quickly).
3. Ability to obtain/maintain a Department of Homeland Security CBP Background Investigation; CBP Background Investigation is required to start.

Preferred Qualifications:*
1. FAA A&P Certificate
2. 10 or more years' experience supporting P-3 or similar platform (C-130) in structural repair, fabrication, modification and installation of sheet metal parts, items and assemblies.
4. Familiarity with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) or equivalent.
5. Current CBP Security Credentials.
Salary Range: $29.58 - $32.54Salary Range 2: $31.35 - $34.48The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
