Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an opening for a Manager Systems Engineering 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Rolling Meadows, IL.
The selected candidate will lead the Aircraft Survivability (ACS) Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) functional homeroom department and will be the SEIT Lead for the ACS Business Unit (BU). The successful candidate will join our high performing, Systems Engineering team in developing Infrared (IR) counter measure systems for some of the most advanced systems in the U.S. arsenal. This will include support for programs in all phases of the engineering life cycle to include development, integration, production and sustainment programs.
The selected candidate will clearly demonstrate strong management skills and will have a track record as a motivated leader, an effective communicator, and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business. Demonstrated abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, are a must. They will have an ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across the sector business areas as required to accomplish team and department goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Manage and lead a team of over 160 SEIT engineers and managers across several areas including System Architecture, System Design, Platform Integration, System Verification, modeling and simulation and Flight testing.
Manage and oversee Systems Engineering execution of the overall cost, schedule, and technical baseline for the ACS BU programs.
Extensive interface and coordination with program management, engineering discipline counterparts, and other functional leads.
Provide oversight of successful milestone reviews (e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR, FCA).
Oversee engineering team's successful requirements definition, decomposition, allocation, and final verification across the product line.
Ensure disciplined proposal development and baseline planning for new activities, as well as program Risk and Opportunity management.
Presentation skills to effectively provide status to internal executive management
Execute functional management responsibilities including recruiting, retention, training, goal setting, career guidance, quarterly connections, compensation planning, policy dissemination, employee engagement, staffing, workforce planning, and implementation of department vision and strategies.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a BS degree in STEM (science, technology, engineering or mathematics) and 12 years of related experience or 10 years of related experience with a Masters in a STEM field.
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate diverse and inclusive teams in a significant leadership role.
Solid understanding of the Systems Engineering process.
Must have experience leading a team of 20+ individuals in a technical environment.
Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Prior experience in the aerospace/defense industry
Prior experience with IR technology
Advanced degree in engineering.
Eligibility for Top Secret, SAP, and/or SCI access.
Experience leading large teams (50+) in a functional, programmatic or technical capacity.

Salary Range: $178,500.00 - $267,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
