Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking Software Engineer : Metrics Data Engineer - 15764. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, Colorado and will support the Sentinel program.
We are excited to offer a challenging opportunity for an enthusiastic Junior Data Engineer to join our reputable defense contractor team. In this role, you will contribute to the management and analysis of diverse data sets, supporting key areas such as division finance, resource planning, scheduling, and specialized engineering program requirements. This position offers a unique chance to develop your skills in data engineering while working on projects that are essential to our national defense and technological innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the design and construction of scalable data pipelines to integrate various data sources within the defense sector.
Support the development of data models and database management systems under the guidance of senior data engineers.
Participate in the implementation of ETL processes and data warehousing solutions.
Contribute to the application of analytics and machine learning for system modeling and predictive maintenance projects.
Help maintain and improve DevOps practices, including version control, automated testing, and continuous integration/deployment for data workflows.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into data-driven solutions.
Ensure adherence to data security protocols and compliance with industry regulations.
Engage in continuous learning to stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering and DevOps.

• T02: 02 Years with Bachelors in relevant field of study; 00 Years with Masters or 04 additional years in lieu of a degree.
• T03: 05 Years with Bachelors in relevant field of study; 03 Years with Masters; 00 Years with PhD or 04 additional years in lieu of a degree.
• U.S. Citizen and ability to obtain Active DoD Secret and Special Program Access (SAP).
• Experience in designing, building, optimizing and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure in cloud environments with tools such as (Apache Airflow, Prefect, AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory).
• Proficiency in Python or Scala for data processing; experience with querying and optimizing databases and with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, or MongoDB).
• Experience with cloud services like AWS (e.g., S3, Redshift, Lambda), Azure (e.g., Synapse, Data Lake), or GCP (e.g., BigQuery, Dataflow).

• Experience with version control systems like Git and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins).
• Familiarity with data lake and warehouse solutions such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
• Understanding of distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark or Databricks or Palantir.
• Ability to work closely with analytics, data science, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless data flow and be able to communicate technical details with non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Cloud certifications such as: AWS Certified Data Analytics Specialty, Azure Data Engineer Associate or Google Professional Data Engineer.
• Knowledge of real-time data streaming tools such as Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis, or Google Pub/Sub.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation for deploying data pipelines.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Understanding of best practices in data governance, including data quality monitoring and metadata management.
• Experience working with sensitive data and adhering to compliance frameworks such as GDPR or HIPAA.
• Experience implementing and optimizing MLOps workflows for integrating machine learning models into data pipelines.
• Familiarity with observability tools for data engineering workflows (e.g., Prometheus, Datadog, or CloudWatch).
Salary Range: $81,300.00 - $121,900.00Salary Range 2: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
