The employee will research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, systems, and products for defense systems or commercial purposes.

You will become part of Northrop Grumman's Lifecycle Sustainment and Modernization Solutions (LSMS). LSMS provides sustainment support for the US Air Force B-1 and B-2 Bombers, E-3 Sentry, Airborne Warning and Control System, and numerous other Government platforms. Our team members complete complex mechanical engineering tasks which include but are not limited to reverse engineering, CAD, structural analysis, manufacturing development, and obsolescence resolution which ensure warfighter supportability.
This engineer will support the Lead Engineer in execution of various program activities, to include design development, design/program reviews, requirements management, automated test software development, test execution and witnessing, tooling development, hardware selection, and specification development.
Responsibilities:
Analyze tooling/support equipment and recommend appropriate solutions for re-work or alternative solutions including modern manufacturing methods
Access, interpret, and recommend changes to engineering drawings
Establish design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and test
Generates complex engineering models and drawings
Analyze complex systems and precision electro-mechanical assemblies through simulation and/or analysis to then recommend appropriate substitutions or re-design solutions to ensure the integrity of the platform configuration, system safety, and performance specifications while minimally impacting qualification processes
Identify, analyze, and solve obsolescence issues.
Establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules.
Identify program problems and assist in the establishing of solutions, such as allocation of resources, improved processes, or changing contractual specifications
Act independently to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of programs
Support process improvement and establishment
Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware specifications
Generates reports and presents to Government counterparts, defense contractors, and other cross-functional organizations
Research, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy
Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines
Basic Qualifications:
Must have at least one of the following:
A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of engineering experience
A master's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 0 years of engineering experience.
Must have or be able to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret/ Top Secret security clearance & special program access
Experience with CAD modeling (NX, SolidWorks)
Experience in a technical leadership role on a cross-functional product development team
Experience designing tooling and support equipment
Experience with static FEA (i.e. ANSYS, FEMAP/NASTRAN)
Must be able to work on-site in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. NO Relocation Provided!
Preferred Qualifications:
A preferred candidate will include experience in some or many of the following areas.
Experience with aerospace systems
Experience with Air Force customers and aerospace industry and military standards
Active DoD Secret Security Clearance (or higher) with investigation in the last five (5) years
Experience with test planning at the equipment and system level
Experience with nuclear hardened systems
Experience with DOORS and general requirements management best practices
Experience with Dynamic and heat transfer FEA
Experience in Additive Manufacturing or 3D-Print design & technologies
Experience with modernization and sustainment of military aircrafts
Experience conducting analysis of mechanical components and structures within aircraft maintenance programs, determining effectiveness and creating written recommendations for increasing efficiency and effectiveness
Experience with any of the following CAD Software Tools and Data Management Products: CATIA, SolidWorks, NX
FEA: Ansys, Femap/Nastran/Patran
Experience with a customer focused, and team-oriented environment
