Northrop Grumman Mission Systems - Marine Systems is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer Level 2/3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The Design Engineer researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
This position focuses on mechanical design and general engineering, including surface ship and submarine propulsion and power generation systems involving steam turbines, gearboxes and generator sets. Activities include developing new designs from concept, thru detailed design, manufacture and test phases. Job requirements also include supporting manufacturing activities on existing production contracts.
This position is located in the Philadelphia, but will require relocating to Annapolis Maryland in 2029.
Travel will be required to support supplier and customer meetings.
What You'll get to Do:
As a Mechanical Engineering team member you will drive and contribute to design and development of critical components and systems for naval propulsion and power generation applications involving turbines, electric motors, gearboxes and generator sets. He/she will be developing new designs from concept through detailed design, manufacture and test phases. Job responsibilities also include supporting manufacturing activities on existing production contracts. Travel may be required to support supplier and customer meetings.
Basic Qualifications Level 2:
Bachelors in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 2 years of relevant work experience; or Masters degree in a STEM discipline and no relevant work experience
Knowledge in mechanical engineering principles, and experience in developing design concepts, performing trade studies, and conducting supporting evaluations and analyses
CAD experience, such as CREO or NX
A basic knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 drawing standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
US Citizenship required
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
Ability to work as a contributing engineering team member
Basic Qualifications Level 3:

US Citizenship required

Current active DoD Secret clearance
Salary Range: $81,300.00 - $121,900.00Salary Range 2: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
