Armament Systems is a leading supplier of integrated medium-caliber weapon systems for land, air and sea platforms through its world-renowned Bushmaster® line of automatic cannons produced at its Mesa, Arizona facility.
Responsibilities of this role:
The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for mechanical design of new and mature medium caliber weapon systems.
Applies mechanical design knowledge to ensure design of gun systems and associated components meets design standards for function, fit, and safety.
Works with design, project manufacturing, and quality engineers though the development process.
Adheres to and maintains Northrop Grumman's engineering process to include concept through production design and design standards.
Presents work at design reviews and program technical reviews.
Reviews engineering designs and drawings for tolerances, surface finishes, dimensions, material selection, processing, heat treat etc., and initiates engineering change orders as required.
Applies engineering knowledge in the investigation and solution of complex technical problems.
Supports manufacturing trade studies and early supplier involvement.
Works effectively with minimal supervision.
Position may require occasional travel to meet with various customers, in both government and industry, and to interface with suppliers.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in STEM field (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics) plus 2 years of relevant experience in an engineering position.
Major in mechanical engineering is highly desired
Proficiency with MS Office applications
U.S. Citizenship
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with engineering simulation tools or software such as Ansys, Teamcenter/NX
Self-motivated and enjoy hands-on work.
Mechanically inclined - ability to understand and work with tools and machinery
Primary Level Salary Range: $70,200.00 - $105,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
