Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Materials and Processes (M&P) Lab Engineering Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals on our Strategy, Integration and Operations (SI&O) organization. This leadership role is located in Melbourne, FL.
As a leader in the M&P organization, you will oversee a team of professionals who are actively developing and refining materials build and testing methodologies, supporting our program portfolio and future capture initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical engineering and chemistry as it relates to composite fabrication, polymer and adhesive application, surface treatments and coatings, physical testing, and failure analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
Functional and assignment management of 10-15 engineers and technical staff
Direct all phases of M&P engineering projects from proposal through test and delivery
Laboratory operations management and project execution in accordance with NG processes as well as all local, state and federal regulations
Participate in basis of estimate development and contract proposals
Perform budgeting, cost estimations and capital asset planning
Manage project schedule and technical performance
Identify, mitigate, and manage technical risks
Work with multiple teams and cross-functional departments to achieve successful outcomes
Implement best practices/continuous improvement initiatives to gain additional efficiencies and cost savings throughout contract/product lifecycle
Develop customer relationships and customer intimacy
Own and lead improvements across employee engagement, hiring, professional development, training, and retention of top talent
Interface with all levels of leadership to meet or exceed performance for all program deliverables

Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 9 years of related professional / military experience, or a master's degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of related professional / military experience, or a doctorate degree in a STEM discipline and 4 years of related professional / military experience
Must have experience in a laboratory environment
Must have an active government Secret (or higher) clearance
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within reasonable time as determined by business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's or doctorate degree in a STEM discipline
Active Top Secret clearance
Direct material test experience in a laboratory environment
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
Previous experience working directly with customers and suppliers
Proven leadership skills
Primary Level Salary Range: $126,600.00 - $189,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
