Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Manufacturing Engineering is seeking a Manufacturing Systems and Industrial Engineering Manager to join the Sykesville Operations Engineering Team. The Manufacturing Systems and Industrial Engineering Manager will be responsible for ensuring the successful performance of a team of approximately 15 manufacturing and industrial engineers as they:

Design, document and implement executable processes and detail assembly/manufacturing instructions
Develop and maintain manufacturing routings and standards to allow for manufacturing schedules and plans that ensure adequate labor, facilities, equipment, tooling, and materials are available to ensure customer requirements are met.
Support to the floor personnel, collaborators, and programs to achieve business and financial objectives
The ideal candidate must perform in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high visibility operation; work well in a team environment; and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. They must have a passion for people, innovation, and excellence, along with the ability to effectively collaborate with multiple disciplines to solve complex issues.
Additional responsibilities and attributes of the Manufacturing Systems and Industrial Engineering Manager include, but are not limited to:
Technical Leadership:

Provide technical oversight for manufacturing and industrial engineering activities performed by the team.
Identify and implement process changes to improve manufacturing builds.
Provide guidance to manufacturing and industrial engineers in support of the personnel on the factory floor to assist in any technical questions regarding the product build; and to resolve issues that arise during manufacturing.
Manage continuous improvement and Manufacturing Technology Advancement (MTA) project tasks and budgets.
Support audits from internal, external and customer groups in regards to manufacturing processes and procedures.
Provide guidance to Design Engineering during drawing reviews regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques; and to identify any manufacturability challenges or changes required ahead of drawing release.
Work with Design Engineering to ensure proper Bill of Material (BOM) structure and alignment of the Manufacturing Instruction to the build for all programs.
Support development of tooling / fixtures to conduct the operations steps and to serve as manufacturing aids for personnel.
Initiate, investigate, and implement solutions for corrective action requests to ensure product quality; resolve quality issues that arise during the build process to ensure all parts conform to the design configuration.
Work with leadership to identify site-wide objectives and to acquire funding to align capability development with business objectives and strategy.
Brief Executive Leadership on major efforts, including process changes, production issues, and continuous improvement efforts
Develop business cases to leverage funding for continuous improvement projects
People Leadership:

Responsible for direct management as well as providing strategic direction to the staff
Providing staffing support, mentoring, employee engagement facilitation, career development, and performance assessments for a team of15 engineers on the Manufacturing and Industrial team
Maintain, update, and execute department procedures.
Support organizational engineering initiatives.
Maintain team affordability and advance team effectiveness; ensure team resources and skills are in place to meet both technical and financial objectives
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other STEM area plus 8 years of Manufacturing experience, or Master's degree in Engineering or other STEM area plus 5 years of Manufacturing experience
Experience with solid modeling tools such as Siemens NX, Solidworks, Pro E, Catia
U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications:

3 years of experience in direct management of people
Mechanical Engineering degree
Industrial Engineering experience
Manufacturing Engineering experience
Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
Experience with project management and communication including associated tools and methods
Experience with SAP or similar MRP system
Manufacturing experience in an electro-mechanical environment
Experience with large Mechanical/ Electro-Mechanical Assemblies
Experience in implementing new designs and processes into a factory
Fluency in MS Office Tools with a focus on documentation

Salary Range: $149,400.00 - $224,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
