Northrop Grumman Launch and Missile Defense Systems in Chandler is looking for a motivated Electrical Engineering Manager to lead the circuit design and PWB layout team in our Avionics Design Group. The Electrical Engineering Manager will work with the other design and operations managers to coordinate and support the day-to-day activities of the engineering team and will also act as a technical lead, technical contributor, or technical consultant on various projects. The qualified candidate shall also be a technical performer, working approximately 85% directly on programs. The team supports all aspects of design, test, and production of a wide range of avionics electronic assembly products.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Work with program engineering managers and program leads to ensure the right people, processes, and tools are in place to meet the business needs.
Work with the ADG engineering team to oversee the supervision of design and test engineering activity and work products, workload management, and performance management process.
Function as a key contributor, managing assigned responsibilities and directing the work of the leads, engineers, and technicians to accomplish goals.
Plan manpower requirements as well as conduct quarterly and annual performance reviews of staff.
Identify and hire effective design engineering staff to keep up with business demands.
Identify, manage and grow the critical skills development process for the design team.
Motivate team; actively, effectively participate and contribute in a positive manner.
Train and mentor junior engineers in Electrical Engineering and test standards.
Make an extra effort to provide quality internal and external customer service.

Work with the engineering team to identify causes of problems and develop solutions.
Ensure standard processes, procedures and command media are followed, including engineering design and test standards, safety, 5S, FOD and others.
Evaluate and implement Lean/agile solutions to decrease cycle times.
Identify and/or lead continuous improvement activities within the department.
Technical Skills
Understanding and application of company electrical engineering technical standards.
Broad technical understanding and working knowledge of other related disciplines.
Strong technical writing skills.
Experience in and solid understanding of digital and analog circuit design.
Solid understanding of PWB layout and library management.
Some programming knowledge.
Ability to perform circuit analysis, simulation and troubleshooting.
Familiar with Root Cause Analysis, Fault Trees, and Design of Experiments
Perform data analysis to identify trends that may indicate poor part performance or degradation.
Basic Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and ten (10) years of related experience or, seven years and a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
Hands-on experience in circuit board design for military / space environments.
Familiarity with Cadence schematic and PWB layout tools.
Strong leadership, influence, and people management skills
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to effectively communicate to all levels of employees, management and customers
Interest in mentoring/teaching/growing junior engineers.
U. S. Citizenship.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with CAM350 and DFM scripting.
Familiarity with VHDL design and verification.
Experience as technical manager, lead, or other similar leadership role with team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Problem-solving experience in a team environment.
Ability to multi-task and apply good time management.
Able to exercise influence and lead team to success.
Ability to make independent decisions, be self-motivated, possess excellent communications skills, detail-oriented, and team player.
Demonstrated effectiveness in managing internal relationships, prioritization, and delegation.
* Active DoD secret clearance.
Primary Level Salary Range: $135,100.00 - $202,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
