Northrop Grumman's Space sector is looking for a motivated & accountable Manager Aeronautical Engineering 1 - Electronics Packaging to provide technical and managerial leadership to a team of Mechanical Engineers working in Avionics design, test, and analysis.at our Chandler, AZ facility.
Essential Functions:
Lead a team of Mechanical Engineers and CAD designers in design, test, and production support of Avionics used on launch vehicles.
Prioritize and assign tasks to a team of Mechanical Engineers
Manage technical, schedule, cost and resources across multiple Programs
Identify and address Program risks to ensure launch success
Mentor staff in electronics packaging design and problem solving
Leverage heritage designs and concepts where appropriate
Provide technical monitoring and oversight via formal and informal reviews
Recruit engineering talent to fill present and future program staffing needs
Review and/or generate technical content for proposals and studies
May perform ongoing operational tasks in addition to supervisor/managerial tasks
Support the administrative functions of the Electronics Packaging Group and the Mechanical Engineering Department (including but not limited to time card approvals, quarterly and annual reviews of staff, overhead budgeting, annual salary reviews and planning, capital expenditure planning, weekly status reports, staff meetings)
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 1 year of experience
Ability to obtain a US DoD Secret security clearance
Experience with mechanical analysis, design, and test
Experience with basic dynamic/thermal environments test and analysis, basic structural analysis, bolted joint analysis, tolerance analysis
Knowledge of GD&T CAD standards and practices
Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team on a design project
Preferred Qualifications:
Active US DoD Secret security clearance, or higher
Experience in avionics anomaly investigations
Experience presenting to upper management
Experience with Packaging specific analyses like Steinberg analysis, solder joint fatigue analysis, venting analysis, keepout analysis
Experience with Nuclear Hardness and Susceptibility design requirements
Experience working with Range and government customers
Experience managing a team of engineers
Salary Range: $112,200.00 - $168,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
